Every person is different and every baby as well. In my own experience, I breastfed my son for 16 months and never experienced any pain, bleeding or cracked/sore nipples. He latched well from the start and as he got older and teeth came in, he never bit!

I breastfeeding my son and it was uncomfortable at times but it wasn't too painful. Some days worse than others. But I still plan on doing it again with my daughter. Honestly each person is different and each baby is different the best thing you can do is try it and see how you and your newborn do.

When pumping I find it helpful to put nipple cream on before not after it helps make it smoother when it's pulling ur nipple. And with doing that I feel it saved my nipples from being sore when he ate off the tap.. Lol I don't recall the name of it but it's 100% natural... Not sure if they all are but it's safe for baby and my son never flinched if there was some left by the time it was time to eat again.

My (long) story:
The first four weeks or so were really really hard for me. The nurses at the birthing center told me I had a great latch, it seemed like my son was nursing well and getting plenty of milk, but when my milk came in after we got home it was a totally different story. I was enormously painfully engorged and he couldn't get a good hold. But I didn't know anything was wrong, so just kept up what I was doing. At his one-week checkup he wasn't back up to his birth weight but he looked healthy so they dismissed it. At two weeks he was down 1lb5oz from his birth weight and the pediatrician told me I didn't have enough milk and would have to supplement with formula or he'd end up diagnosed as failure to thrive. I sobbed right there in the office - and then I called a lactation consultant. Made an emergency appointment. She spent over two hours with us late on a Friday afternoon and showed me that I had more milk than I knew what to do with, and how to get him to drink it effectively. He gained eight ounces in two hours and within three weeks had gained three pounds. There was some serious soreness, chapping, cracking involved. But after that first month all the pain and stress and struggle was over and it was smooth sailing from there. I nursed him for two years before he decided to wean. Every moment was worth the long-term success. But I wish I'd called for help sooner. Do not give up. Ask for help. Be patient and be persistent and don't accept defeat easily. It was a huge struggle but ended up being one of the things I'm most proud of in my entire life. Worth every moment.

It wasn't painful for me personally, the night my milk came in was rough because I was so engorged but that's about it. I weened him off slowly and then one day when I did stop it didn't hurt no swelling or anything.

Breastfed both my other 2 babies and going to with this one :). Trutgfully its one of the things about having another baby that im really excited to be able to do again lol. It does usually hurt for the first couple weeks tops and then it doesnt at all. Its convenient ni bottles to clean readily available and the best thing for your baby. Also major perk is its free! Lol

I've bf all 3 of my babies and will do the same with this one. I made sire to pack my nipple cream in my hospital bag. Huge lifesaver! Keeps your nipples soft and keeps them from drying and cracking. The first week is uncomfortable. But I enjoy the bond I share :)

I did it with both of my girls for two years each. The first few days are tough, because you are trying to get a correct latch and yes they sometimes blister and bleed. But you just add a little of your milk onto the nipple and let them air dry. Don't stop the baby from feeding on the best,  because your milk may not come in as fast.  I promise you though after the first few days, maybe a week of pain it will get better. It is honestly so much easier no waking up in the middle of the night for bottles, just you and yourlittle one bonding. No worries while out about making a bottle just a coverup, you and baby. After a month or so you can begin pumping into a bottle if that is your wish, because baby by then should be use to feeding with you. Good luck! 9 months is a scary journey

Yes it's painful but not that bad. And it you have a c section it is more painful for awhile bc it makes your uterus contract . But it's worth the pain. It also helps with losing the baby weight  After.

It was only painful until the milk official came. The first 48 hours it's all your colostrum. Which is supper important to the baby's health but after that I loved breastfeeding my baby. The bonding time is wonderful and I never had to worry about bottles or formula.  Until around 10 months when I started work again.

Not all breastfeeding experiences are the same. My son had so much trouble latching, so I decided to pump to give him better nutrition for about six months. It's a pain to have to lug the pump around but I got use to it and it just became part of my routine. So if you do experience pain or nipple tenderness or any of the other common things that happen. Pumping could be a an outlet for you and your baby will still get all of the necessary nutrition.
