negative test result

I am 7 weeks now, at 4 weeks I went to the doctors and I got a negative test result. Three days ago my breasts were hurting so bad I decided to test again. Six tests later... all six said yes! My husband and I are so excited, but why the negative at 4weeks? can that mean something is wrong? My doctor doesn't have an open appointment until jan 5th! I bought prenatal vitamins yesterday, and ive stoped smoking (very difficult btw) but im so scared waiting so long to be a doctor.

Ok...I think you're fine. I am a laboratory scientist, and can tell you the test we perform in the lab is really no difference than that you perform at home. If the home pregnancy test say you're pregnant, you are indeed pregnant...going to urgent care is just wasting more money finding out what you already know. Now, as for seeing the doctors at 13wks...totally okay as well. They usually schedule the first visit between 8-12wks, going in at 13wks well not harm you our baby...when you're that far developed the first screen is actually more exciting because it's just so much more to see...you can actually make out most of the baby. I saw my doc at 12wks...as long as you keep doing right (no smoking, pre-natal vitamins, eating right foods, etc.) You are doing exactly what you would be doing with our without that doctors visit. Hang in there, stop worrying...and congratulations!

You might have ovulated very late and not had hormones strong enough for a positive. Keep doing what you're doing and try not to stress until you can see your Dr. At this stage there's very little they can do. If you feel weird or that you need to be seen, there is always emergency care.

I got 2 negative doctors results and 4 home positive. I was told doctors tests aren't as sensitive as home test. They finally took blood and confirmed.

My first pregnancy I didnt get to see a doctor until I was 4 months pregnant because of no openings and I didnt find out I was pregnant until 8 weeks. It is better to be seen between 8-12 weeks though. I would just call them and have them call you if there are any cancellations.

And I can only imagine you want that confirmation from Dr that you're pregnant as well. Congrats! I've smoked for 12 years. A pack every 2-3 days. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit as well. I'm now 33 weeks, 34 weeks tomorrow, and I have not smoked once. It's not the easiest but it's also not the hardest because I know I would feel so much guilt and regret after and it's just not worth it. You can do it ;-)

Well thats good! Im wondering if I should go to urgent care instead of waiting? I read you should see a doctor before 12 weeks and if I wait until jan 5th it will be 13 weeks

Hello! I had the same thing happen. I got a negative result at 4 weeks. Waited another week and then it was positive. Doesn't mean anything is wrong. Just means your body hadn't produced enough baby hormone yet to produce a positive test result.
