38.6 weeks... cervix change?

Ok ladies this might be a tmi but not sure if its Dr worthy either so here goes...

I'm almost 39 weeks and have my section on Friday but Dr said I could go into labor early so be on the look out. Last night hubby and I had sex and it felt pretty much the same, maybe a little tighter but nothing crazy... Then this morning in the shower it felt like my sons head was literally going to fall out all of the sudden. So when I got out of the shower I had my husband look (with sterile gloves just in case) and he said he couldn't really get anywhere because it looked like my cervix was right there... Is that normal? I'm a nurse but never a maternity nurse so I'm not familiar with checking a cervix. I'm just paranoid because I have this constant sensation now that he is like in my vagina but hubby went to work as I'm not really contracting much etc...

So I guess my ? Is do I call my Dr or see what happens because they said they don't want me in labor during my section if possible (too much scar tissue from previous surgeries)

Thanks Amy... I actually just did and you were spot on... I could smack him... I was worried there was something wrong with me!! Thanks for the mirror tip... Never thought of that Lol guess I'm OK and he's still staying put!

It might not have been your cervix. It could have just been the insides of your vagina being swollen and kind of bulging out. I took a mirror and looked down there a couple weeks ago (I'm 39+1 right now) and it looked pretty weird lol the pink insides were like right at the opening. And he prob doesn't really know what a cervix looks like. But you could call and ask your dr or a nurse and they might want you to come in just to be sure!
