lack of sleep

I am 4+3 wks. I haven't slept in a week, which is 1 day longer than I have known. What have you ladies done to lessen your anxiety and get some sleep during pregnancy? I feel I should mention that I have had to stop taking the valium I have been taking for over 6 years

I agree with all the above. Talk to your Dr too about side effects from coming off your meds. Being aleet at night has been my main symptom and Unisom helps me get sleep. My Dr recommend it for me.
Warm baths and lacendar lotion or soap also helps me relax.
If youre in therapy maybe ask your therapist to walk you through some mindfulness exercises or something called heartmath. (Im a therapist so I practice these when im really wound tight.
Good luck and congratulations!!!!!

I know exactly how it feels. We belong to that group who learn about their pregnancies little early and start getting anxious.

Honestly, you will never stop worrying completely but as time passes by, your anxiety will definitely lessen. I am in my second trimester now and still feel anxious at times but not what i felt during the first month. My doctor suggested a few things which helped a lot:
1. Do not sleep for long hours during the day
2. Practice some deep breathing excercises specially when you start getting anxious.
3. Keep on temong yourself that everything is perfectly fine.
4. Talk to friends. Divert your mind.
5. Go to bed early as much possible.
6. Warm water baths are also helpful before going to bed.

Hope you start feeling better soon.
