Thank you ladies so much!!!
Well if you are not able to hold your baby you can think if them, look at their pic, or even have one of their blankets that's done if the things I had to do while my baby wad in the nicu.. I want able to hold her for a while but was able to get milk supply
with my first baby I couldn't breastfeed him either because he was in the NICU for 5 days and my milk didnt come in till 5 days later but i did try with him with my second bb they let me hold him for 45min n he latched on right away n my milk came in like 2 days later n i was able to feed him. I think if u latch them right after they're born u should b fine cuz of the skin to skin contact.
also, the first "milk" u make is colostrum. U only make a couple spoonfuls in like 3 days. It's a very small amount. But it is packed with vitamins and the best of the best u can give ur baby. It is filling and slow to digest for baby. So don't worry! Just keep putting baby to nurse and ur milk will come in! :)
i have three boys pregnant for the fourth time with a girl. I Bf my first only a month because I didn't know enough. I successfully bf my other two boys for 13 months. I would really recommend that u get a book on bf. I can't tell u enough how much it will help u. I know so many women that quit bf because they are sure they didn't have enough milk or they gave them formula because their milk hadn't come in. The book will help u understand all the stages. Ur milk comes in 3-5 days after u deliver. The more u put baby to breast, the more it stimulates ur milk glands and the faster u get milk. And the more ur baby demands the more u make. By week 3 ur beast go from super engorged thicker yellow milk to thinner white milk that make ur breast more comfortable. It's really important to have a guide. That way u don't quit because u think there's something wrong with u or baby. Good luck!!
You should get your milk right away.. you have to let baby try that produces more milk . With my first she didn't latch on I produced plenty but had to pump and bottle feed her my breast milk.. With second my water ruptured at 26 weeks I had her at 30 and I immediately started pumping.. the first few times you get very little (colostrum) but just keep on it.. the nurses could not believe how much breastmilk I brought in in just a 2 or 3 days..
