But i hate wine... that one beer would not harm my baby... what do you ladies think?? Im 16 weeks and 5 days... that was the first time having a whole beer. Its not a everyday thing!! Tell me your opinions???

I HATE how some people can be so judgemental like they are the perfect mom. Just ask your doctor boo & don't do it again :)

Natpat good point. I kind of like how this postbblew up. It's your baby, your body, and your life. Drink a beer if ya want eat a hotdog if you feel. Your body is giving your baby all the nutrition and protecting the baby from most bad. You are doing great. Keep up the good work ladies.

The point of this site is to be able to about whatever topic you want while pregnant. Why are some women being so judgemental? One beer will not do anything to harm the baby, chill out. I think it's a reasonable question, I've often wondered the same. When we were in our moms bellies, they still drank and we all came our just fine. If you don't agree no need to bash her or anyone on the choices they make, what happened to a simple response like yes I think it's fine, or no I wouldn't do that. Looking at ask these responses you would think we were on teen mom. How everyone has a great and healthy pregnancy w/ whatever decisions you make!!

I'm training to be an LC, and it is a myth.  Beer does not increase your milk supply. It does however make your baby sleepy. I would never recommend that a nursing mother drink to increase supply. I also would never drink while pregnant because I feel it's not worth the risk. Why not try non-alcoholic beer to satisfy your craving? And for the wonderful person bashing Americans,  not everyone falls into your stereotypical view. You must not know very many, because there is a large population of people who stay away from GMO's, artificial products, and eat organic.

As the other lady said some other countries have different rules. If you feel like its ok than why come and ask on here? Its your baby you should follow your motherly instinct. But I dont think you think its ok. I think you know its wrong you are just looking for approvals from other women to say yeah its ok go ahead drink. So my thing is if you really think its ok why come here and ask other women? I had a problem quiting smoking. Most women I know from my country kept smoking through pregnancy. I knew it was wrong smoking, I felt guilty and after few failures I finally quit.

There is alot of mommys in the world that are doing alot worst than just having one beer and no need to judge anyone. Just asking opinions. Does not make me a bad mom for having one beer.

Oh and it's not a myth about beer and milk supply. And LC will tell you that. It's dark beer that is good for increasing milk supply.

I think you'll be fine. I have even read studies that have shown the benefit of having the odd drink in pregnancy on both mother and also the child long term. Not enough to get tipsy. Just an odd drink here and there. In other countries it is the norm. There is no reason why American women can't regulate their own consumption the way the rest of the women in the world do.

And I read it online and my sister in law told me that beer helps with producing more breast milk

"At that high of a risk" hear what u just said. And you don't know what kind of foods we eat. We didnt answer that cause it wasn't the question. I for one am very educated. Besides all that stuff u mentioned about gmo etc. Have u tried looking up ingredients? Do you know what the red, blue, yellow, voilet in foods do to you? Most don't. So most have something to learn

I agree with you @natpat5.. in my opinion some ladies on here need to relax! if your having a drink or two that doesnt make you an alcholic nor does it put your baby at that high of a risk. Alot of ppl drink and smoke threw out there pregnancy and dont nobthere pregnant and their babies are purfectly healthy ..im not saying go ahead and drink or smoke. But one or two wont hurt!!

I've had a beer and a couple glasses of wine during my pregnancy 23 wks now...not all at once of course but I've done it and it doesn't make me any less of a mother than anyone on here so I say screw it what's done is done and who cares just don't drink another one for a while! And in the beginning before i knew i was carrying i smoked weed and cigs and drank like a fish so I'm just saying i think one beer u will be fine.....in my opinion!  Good luck and don't worry about all the negative things people say it's ur body and baby!

I agree. A slurpee is probably far more harmful than a beer. The body digests alcohol and sugar the same way.

Its funny how people are complaining about harming yout baby with one beer when most are eating pesticed, gmo, antibiotic, hormone, chemical filled toxic american food which has worst long term effects than one beer. Autism, ADD. Alzheimer, diabetes, heart disease. Many of the ingredients in food sold in america is illegal in other countries. Plus all the frankein foods fed to the child once born.. no on is perfect they shouldnt judge you when they dont even know about the toxins they are putting in their own body and feeding their children.

Just like I said who cares of other countries do it. Even some how miraculously it didn't affect a baby at ALL why would u take the chance if many claim it can hurt a baby? Dosent make sense. Pretty sure you wouldn't go in public with a big belly and down a beer. So don't do it alone. You should feel wrong for doing it.

I agree with most of these women on not drinking. If your dr told you if it was ok then I would trust a Dr. But personally I wouldn't do it. But I also don't think 1 beer is gonna hurt the baby. It's just like smokers that smoke while being pregnant you can harm your baby but they still do it. I guess it's just up to you and your dr.
