Vaginitis??? harmful to baby?

I went to my doctor because I thought my water broke while using the restroom, I went in & they did all routine checks to make sure I didn't. The next day I received a phone call from a nurse at my doctor's office, she told me that I have a bacterial infection called Vaginitis & that medication (antibiotics) for 7 days would hopefully cure the infection. I'm worried about my baby, I'm 33 weeks. Rumor has it, it can cause pre-term labor. Could taking the medication still cause me to go into pre-term labor?

I had it and took the antibiotic but it was in my second trimester- not sure if it can change things since you are a lot further along than that- but as far as taking it- I haven't had any issues since
