Sushi

I'm barely 5 weeks pregnant and a little nervous.  I haven't made my first appointment yet.  I was wondering if it's safe to eat sushi?

Good! However, stay away from all salmon. I love salmon so I was not happy to hear that!

Salmon is actually ok to eat during pregnancy. Cooked salmon that is. It's one of the safer fishes to eat.

I was told as long as it's cooked. Also, salmon is supposed to be good for you.  I've been eating it. So look up the new studies with salmon, fish and pregnancy.

Only smoked fish could be an issue as not enough heat is used.

My Dr told me specifically to stay away from salmon of any kind because it's high in something....mercury I think. I was disappointed to hear that.
