Stretch marks are caused by dry skin and scrayching. Dry skin breaks your skin while its stretching and scratching, well the word said or all, while your scratching your breaking your skin. I use 100% coconut oil, non hydrogenated.

Stretch marks are not originally scars, but they turn into scars. And they are subdermal, so things like neosporin aren't going to help. A family member is a dermatologist, so I asked her a lot of questions about this. They ARE genetic, but what people don't understand is genetics aren't off or on. It doesn't matter if your mom got them or not. You are more than your mother's genetics. You have your own genes. Just try to think if it as, if you get them, you didn't do anything wrong - they would have come either way. But that doesn't mean your diet, skin care, etc doesn't matter. It's not all or nothing. This is why some things work for some and not for others. We are all different.

Crazy to see how many people are saying opposite things... if stretch marks are not preventable, which are scars... then i guess neosporin is not something that helps scars or give skin its elasticity

If stretch marks are genetic I must not be related to my mother or sister. :/
They both got loads! !

My sister used bio oil and got marks sooo bad they bled.

I however got one on my hip after my daughter was born- not one more.
So I don't think they aren't preventable or genetic.

I rub baby oil into my WET skin like lots of it when I get out of the shower. Then air dry or pat dry.

I used coca butter lotion in last pregnancy but a nurse told me to use baby lotion and rub into skin. Both are good.

NEVER SCRATCH belly back or thighs when itchy put moisture lotions cream or oil on and massage skin.

I've also started using vaseline moisture spray ... you literally spray on moisturiser its soo nice

you don't need expensive products just cheap baby oil and moisturiser x

^^ see... if you really think you cant prevent them or give something to your skin for elasticity, then you are just closed minded.. just sayin..

I've had wonderful luck with pure cocoa butter. Yes it's genetic, but so is diabetes, that doesn't mean nothing helps. It's taken about two months, but pure cocoa butter at least twice a day and many of my stretch marks have gotten much lighter and I don't have any new ones. Might just be a coincidence, but I'm not stopping. :)

If you want an inexpensive remedy, 100% cocoa butter. Has to be 100%. Its sold in sticks, the lotions are not 100%. My mom and aunts and cousins all swear by it. But you may still get some, it depends on your family's skin genes
