Any bad birth stories I've heard usually start with a sweep or induction. Not saying everyone has a bad experience but personally I think you should wait for bub to come when they are ready. Unless of course there is a significant medical reason.

I had it done at wk 39 and again at wk 40... still nothing.   :/ It can work but is not a guarantee so just keep that in your mind.

I had mine swept at 37 weeks a few days ago... but my ob did it without even asking me which I thought was kind of strange. It was my first check too so it hurt so bad.

Omg I went into labor at 34 weeks and was stopped and have had what the hospital says is early stages of labor ever since. Been thru hell with all kinds of symptoms and contractions and I can't believe my Dr didn't even bother to suggest it. :( . thank you ladies.

I say go for it. Its not really painful and if he already tried to come then it might just work.
Good luck girl. <3

Yes I am.. I'm having my 37w apt on Monday.. I'm already 50% effaced AND they have already made me sign the agreement papers saying that if I got the membrane sweep the extra membranes will be used for experimental stuff...

I've heard people get it done between 37-41w..

My son has already tried to come at 35w so it made me curious

I was dialated to a 1 and it felt like they were just checking me plus a little pressure. They did it on my due date. Not sure if u have to be effaced or dialated. Its worth it tho I had my son 10 hours later. Are u thinking about getting it done?
