I have had 2 kids and I gained on the higher end of the spectrum, if not over the 'recommended' amount with both. As long as you are healthy and baby is healthy, gaining  more than the suggested is fine. Every person, body, and pregnancy is different. What works for one doesn't work for all.

That said, you wanted to know how much is recommended. If you are at a normal weight prepregnancy, 25-35lbs is considered normal. Again, I gained 35+ lbs with both of my first 2 and I was always healthy and was able to lose all the weight. With my first pregnancy, I started at 128lbs. By the time I got pregnant the second time,I was down to 124. Going into this pregnancy I was again 128. I am 31+2 weeks now and I've gained 23lbs.

I'm 32 weeks and have gained 11 pounds. I'm interested to see how much weight I gain through the end since I've been diagnosed with GD and am now on a restricted diet.

I'm in the exact same boat, 6 mo & 22 lbs already! (started out about 20lbs over my usual weight due to marrying an amazing southern cook! Lol) My Dr did bring it up yesterday but her only concerns seemed to be making delivery easier & bouncing back quicker. I had been really down about it because I was extremely lucky with my first pregnancy, but I've come to terms with it I guess because somehow it seems unrealistic to me to only put on another 8 lbs lol. Good luck!

Iwas overweight to begin with by about 20 lbs, so my doctor only wanted me to gain about 15-25 lbs total.
I lost about 7 lbs during my first trimester from all the barfing, but now I'm 20+4 and I'm eating anything that isn't nailed down. I've put that seven back on plus another 7...
Lately I've been obsessed with lemonade and saltwater taffy, which is definitely not helping!

I also was told 25 to 30 lbs. Last month the doc scolded me for gaining 7lbs in a month! I laughed at her tho. I lost 20 lbs the 1st trimester with morning sickness.  I am 30 weeks aND I am only 8lbs over my previous pregnancy  weight. As long as your healthy u will loose it later

When I was pregnant with my first two the standard was 40lbs, now they've decreased it to 25-35 lbs. Honestly don't worry about it. If you gain a little more than expected, you'll have a little extra to lose. If you breastfeed, it will naturally come off. You'll bounce back. What's important is your baby and as long as you're eating healthy, who cares really. My sister gained 80 lbs, I gained 36 with my first, and 40 with my second. I'm only 8 weeks but I've already gained 5 lbs because I've been eating mostly carbs due to nausea. I threw up the first time last night. Plus you have to remember, your weight will fluctuate during pregnancy because of water retention, gas and bloating. Try walking and stretching to get rid of the water or put your feet up if they get swollen. This is the time when extra bloat comes in especially if it's humid weather.

I'M 22 wks I've gained 9 lbs so far I think anywhere between 15-30 lbs is considered healthy weight gain. But then again it depends on the woman every pregnancy is different

I believe it's around 30 pounds.

Placenta: 1.5 pounds
Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
Uterus: 2 pounds
Breast tissue: 2 pounds
Blood volume: 4 pounds
Tissue fluids: 4 pounds
Fat: 7 pounds
Baby: 7.5 pounds

I'm 28 weeks and gained about 16 pounds or so.
