absolutely TERRIFIED!

I am so terrified of child birth (my first pregnancy).

What do they do for people with a phobia of needles and an epidural. I am so scared my crying and breathing and hystaria will cause problems like stress or blood pressure on the baby.

I'm scared to poop on the bed.

Im scared of the pain.

I'm scared of tearing or being cut. And stitched. And healing.

Just everything haha. please help.

Ivan honestly say I was terrified like you.... I didn't want to poop on the bed and the epidural scared the crap outta me.... I was afraid of getting stiches lol... Everything your scared of so was I.... Ok so I've had 2 kids.... And when the time comes you won't give 2 ***** lol.... You will be spread like an eagle and all your going to be worried about is getting thebaby out of you.... The worst part is the contractions I found.... And actually delivering the baby felt like a really good poop... It burned a little bit but a big sigh of relief.... Good luck

I get scared sometimes too. I think its normal. Then I think about all the women prior to me that has done it. I use my mom as my example. She gave birth to me and my lil brother. She tells me it wasn't easy but it was the best thing she ever did. And if you knew my mom not saying she is weak or anything but i could say she is super passive and nothing like me so I tell myself that if she can do it then I can. She also breast fed both of us for 6 months. I know I shouldn't compare myself to anyone else but it helps me. And if you don't know anyone currently you can look at and say hey I can do this too take a good look at history. We all had to come from somewhere. Woman having been spitting out babies for years. Its natural. They did it before drugs and csections and lots of times without quitting work. (Literally in bushes or in fields). With today's health care you couldn't be any safer. I am scared if the needle in the back but after a small pinch and a lil burn you won't feel that either.   Now I can says all of that because I personally think a needle in the back is way better than one in the side of your neck where you can see the doctor working to put it in. I have had one in the neck and I don't ever want that again. I hope some of my rambling helps out. That's what I do to not worry so much.

This is also my first time, but scared? Not even a feeling! If you really think about it women are made for this! Are bodies are physically prepared to give birth, women have been doing it for centuries! If 14 year old girl can do it why in the hell can't you boo? Your gonna be great! Make sure you have an awesome support system, & trust me you will be treated like a queen in that delivery room, whatever you need they will give it to you. If it makes you feel better you can take a childbirth class with your partner it's only 70$ . Me &  my hubby took one it was 7hrs long , but it gave us SOOO much info about labor, how to deal with the pain & all the different alternatives of medication to calm the pain. With that being said you don't have to get an epidural you can get pain killers thru IV or something. Good luck mama

I agree, research it! The more you know, the more in control you'll feel. Also, get in a good childbirth class. I loved Bradley Method classes! Its a longer class then most, but it prepares you so well with what to expect and how to deal with birth. There are so many thongs you can do to reduce complications- for example, avoiding pitocin (the drug they use to cause contractions) makes them much less painful, and doing squats and kegal exercises now reduces the chances of tearing and make healing quicker!

You'll be OK sweetie. Going through labor and delivery isn't easy, but as woman we are strong and get through it. Always keep in mind it's all worth it in the end. It's always scariest the first time going through it all because you don't know exactly what to expect..... And your scared every time after because you DO know what to expect. This is number 5 for me and I get nervous and scared. Just remember to try and stay as calm and stress free as possible, it'll make things go a lot easier. Good luck!

my advice, research child birth. Read these books - 'Ina May's Guide to Childbirth' by Ina May Gaskin (Actually all of her books are AMAZING and worth the reading time!)
- 'Active Birth' by Janet Balaskas
- 'The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth' Henci Goer
- 'Your Best Birth' by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein
- 'Birthing From Within' by Pam England and Rob Horowitz

I would urge you to avoid an epidural or any intervention as they complicate/slow down labor and do affect you and your baby. They also cause a longer harder recovery after birth.

Your fear is natural because you don't know or understand birth. Arm yourself with all the information you can and your fears will ease tremendously.

Birth can be painful but it is pain with a purpose greater than any other and you can use that pain to birth and bond with your baby in a way you can never do again in your life.
Remember, women are strong and we are made to give birth. I hope you find your inner strength and remember, this is the first step in being a mother.

GL!

U said it! Alot of us r scared!! Im so ready to see my baby girl but at the same time I dont want to go through the pain, my fear is that something will go wrong and I will die right there! They say only 2 percent of people have problems and that's a small number.  And I try to tell myself that many women have more then 1 baby so it really must be worth it, I mean look at that one couple that there show is called 19 and counting! And that crazy lady wants more! Just try to think of all those positive things to help ur nerves... hopefully it helps just a lil
