I have had back problems since a young girl about 13, never sure what caused it, I know I fell out of tree once just never seen for it, I'm 30 weeks along with my Second baby. Last night around 6 I felt ny back change to what it used to do. I can't stand up straight. I can hardly walk..Tylenol nor hot pack helps. Waiting for call back from doctor.  Don't know if there is anything that can be done this far along in pregnancy.  I'm afraid  to ask for xray or even accept one if they offer, I heard it can harm baby. Any advice??? Pleasee

No money for chiropractor, called over 10 today.and my ins doesn't cover chiropractor visits. Doctor said that's what I should do though.  I wish there was something I can do to make it a little less painful. Can't do anything for my children, or myself. It's so stiff and if I try to move it makes it feel like something is either dislocating or pinching a nerve. Thank you every body for the advice.

not worth the risk.  I would instead go to a chiropractor or massage therapist.  That should help you out

When I broke my finger they wouldn't even do an xray because when they asked if I was pregnant I just said that my period was a week late

I am an xray technologist and if they order a xray of you lumbar spine (lower back) there is no way to shield the baby. Usual that type of test is not ordered. And if by chance it is ordered, most xray technologist won't want to risk their license to do it. As mentioned above MRI is better but the magnet will definitely make baby wiggle which causes blurry images. At this point you will probably be referred for physical therapy. Not much they will do though since you ate pregnant and at this point in your pregnancy the risk of causing preterm labor is high. Hopefully you can some relief. Good luck!

Okay, xrays over and over and over without protective ...that's what's bad for baby. The chances that you will get an xray are slim, but the chances that you'll hurt your baby are none. A properly trained xray tech will shield your baby and still get good images. An MRI will also give good images, but you'll be laying in one position for upwards of 45 minutes and the magnet can irritate the baby into wiggling a lot which can cause blurry images. CT scans also involve radiation, but the test is fast and with proper technique, have very little scatter radiation. A good doctor and a good tech will know how to keep baby safe to the utmost.
