Could i still be pregnant?

AF visited me on the 14th of July 2016 (first day of AF). I have a pretty regular cycle of 28 days. but 23  days after AF (5th of August)I had some very light spotting for 4 days. Very light, just had to wear panty liners, that's how light they were. I also had a couple of pregnancy symptoms like nausea, feeling sick (did throw up),lower back ache, fatigue and very emotional. I had to wait about another week until AF was supposed to come. She never did. I took many pregnancy tests, they were all negative. On friday (26th of August,AF 16days late) i had an appointment with my gynecologist. He did an ultra scan. He said that my lining is thick and that i either would get my period or it's an early pregnancy. Blood was taken from me for a blood test. I recieved the results today, my Dr. receptionist said i was below 5hcg. So it indicates negative pregnancy.
But if it were to be an early pregnancy, wouldn't it be to early to pick up hcg? And could i still be pregnant?

I still haven't had a visit from AF and next week i am supposed to get my second AF.
