Pregnancy of unknown location

Hi, this is a really confusing time for me. I have had 3 positive pregnancy tests. I had a little bleeding on the same day of the first positive and some moderate pain in my abdomen. Since then I have had a scan both external and internal and they couldn't see anything so they took a blood sample. This came back at over 1500 which I am told is high for early pregnancy as I am estimated at 6weeks. Another test was taken today (2 days after the first) and the level is now in the 3000's. I had to go back to the hospital for an internal examination and was told that they believe the pregnancy to be of unknown location as nothing was visible on the scan. I was advised to stay in hospital to be monitored but declined as I have a 6yr old to look after.

These doctors have really really scared me saying that the pregnancy could be ectopic and that I should stay in hospital until the next scan on Monday. Also telling me that I could faint/pass out or bleed heavily should the pregnancy be ectopic and rupture.

Are they being overly cautious? Could there still be a happy ending?

What is going on?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your kind words. I have been told today that it is ectopic - so no happy ending this time just a lot more scary stuff...

I am 5-6 wks and on Friday my hcg levels were 1292. Not sure why they are saying it is so high? Look up hcg levels and it would be well within the normal range for 6 wks. Good luck :)

I will say if you start getting excruciating cramps like you can't take them anymore don't wait to head over to the hospital. An ectopic pregnancy is serious and can kill you.

also sometimes doctors are stupid.. so don't stress out about it. I hope everything works out for you and I'm praying for you.

well you're not really that far along. I think the doctors are being a little too over cautious. just try to wait it out and see what happens. good luck and I hope everything works out for you.
