spotting for a couple days and then a small gush of blood. Am i pregnant?

I had my last period start on Nov 4th...about a week later i had spotting.  It was just a couple drops on a piece of toilet paper when i went to the bathroom.  Now, i'm supposed to start my next period on friday, and on sunday i was spotting again.  Again, just a little on some toilet paper, and then monday, the same thing happened again.  Then tuesday it happened again but it was a tiny bit more so i stuck a tampon in, took it out a couple hours later and there was a small amount of what appeared to be "brown colored" blood.  Then today i had a sudden small gush of bright red "period like blood".  Wiped it all up with some tp and stuck a tampon in.  Took the tampon out hours later and only like a drop or two of blood on it.

Any idea what it could be?  Could i be pregnant?  This has never happened to me ever and my period always comes on the 5th day of my inactive birth control pills and lasts 3 days.

Also, I should probably mention that i started this pack about 4 days late and also missed one pill in the second and in the third week.  I did the same thing the month before but the whole bleeding thing happening this month didn't happen last month.
