Scared - Irregular Gestational Sac @ 5w1d

I had my first ultrasound last week and it was not so great. My tech said that she wanted my result to be rounder and mine looked like a tear drop shap I was 5 weeks and 1 day then and tomorrow I'm going to have another U/S and I'm very scared that they will say I have blighted ovum. I never had it but I read so much over the past week that I think in my head that this is what's gonna be shown to me tomorrow :( with great sadness I feel like I already took this defeat. I still feel pregnant and I'm still nauseaus, peeing, sore breasts but those are all from HCG and because of the placenta...

Has anyone ever gone to 5 weeks ultrasound and the gestational sac didnt look right but weeks later it change to "normal". I trust God so much but I know that it still hurts - I know it will hurt my daughter whose 9 been wanting to have this sibling for 9 years and my DH.

Thank you all for reading.

hi Ernie! well that's not so bad - if they see the yolk sac! that's great news! I'm very excited to say that my "irregular shape gestational sac" was perfect today and we saw the fetal pole, heart fluttering and right on at 5w6d. I'm very happy with my result that I cried. I can see the tinniest heart flickering....was the most amazing this you could see. I'm sure you'll see yours next week! I go back in 10 days.

well i had my u/s this morning and they calculated me to be only 5 weeks 1 day. All they could see was the yolk sac and gest sac for now, but my doc says it looks good. i go back next wed for another ultrasound. she said we should see the baby and hb then.

It's funny that you mention that actually... i never knew it was "supposed" to be round. I remember with my first pregnancy, at my first US @ 6 weeks, I thought the sack look a little mis-shapen, kinda similar to what you described as "tear drop" shape. The tech didn't mention anything so I didn't worry about it. At my next US though, it was more rounded with a strong heartbeat! Although, I did go on, I ended up losing the pregnancy at 12 weeks but it was because I had severe hyperemesis and was hospitalized. At one point I had went over a week without eating. I had to have a tube inserted in my nose to eat for the baby but by that time I think it was too late.
Anyways, keep your head up. I think everything will be perfectly fine. You're still early.

Hi Ernie! You are only 1 day shy from me - I'll pray for us both and I hope you have a good news. Have you had your beta? I can't complain with mine - it has been doubling since 12dpo - 22dpo at 22dpo my beta was at 4100.

i am going tomorrow at 5 weeks 6 days for the first time, so i will let you know what happens. i know that early its so hard to tell and make judgements, so try to keep an open mind. everything is still so small, so they can't tell for sure always. i hear every day counts, so hopefully you will get better results tomorrow. being 6 weeks usually means a lot more too.  good luck! crossing my fingers for both of us...
