baby doppler question

Hello to everybody. I have a question hope somebody can help me. well it's not really a question but I would appreciate if you can share with me your experiencies using a fetal heart monitor. I just brought one on line because I need some reasurance that the baby is ok until my next scan. I am 17 weeks pregnant but I don't have big belly and I can't feel any movement yet. Thank you and good health on your pregnancies.

I'm glad you finally got it and the heartbeat was fairly easy to find. :)

hello to everybody. i hope you are all doing great.
I finally tried the doppler. My boyfriend tried first and he found the heart beat in few minutes. Thanks god or I would have been worried. Its amazing to hear it, the best experience. I now can recomend it to anybody. It takes  stress away from the pregnancy.
take care

thank you all for your answers. I will try to don't panic if I don't find it at the beginning. I got it this morning but I haven't check it yet. I am just a little scare but I don't think I can't resist for long :) I will post as soon as soon as I feel brave  to test it :)
I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancies.

I bought a doppler off of ebay for about $85, and I love it.  I can find the baby now within a minute or so although it took me longer when we first got it.  My OB also told me that if you run out of the ultrasound gel it comes with that you can use KY Jelly as long as its the water based kind :-)  Its made me feel so much better the past fewdays since I got put on bed rest for complications. I'm able to check the baby and know he/she is really ok.

I bought a doppler for the same reason as you and can tell you it is wonderful...it takes some practice but you will soon master it. The first time I tried it I was going round and round my belly and not picking anything up (((panic panic)))... eventually we found baby very low down. Now I always start low (right down low!) and try left and right. Not only can you hear the babys little heartbeating away but you will hear the placenta whoosing aswell as the blood circulates though it and just lately we get loud thudding sounds where the baby is moving away from the pressure of the doppler and kicking!

Like you I can't feel any kicks yets which I am surprised about as this is my 4th baby but you will probably find that once you apply light pressure with the doppler you will feel your belly going hard in areas where baby is moving around!

Good luck, its very addictive but IMHO the best investment I have made so far!!

I used a doppler every day for my first pregnancy and it gave me excellent reassurance that everything was fine, which it was, definitly took the stress levels down. My gynocologist told me that when your doing the doppler or ultrasound the baby hears the same sound as if you were sitting in a full bath of water (under water) and you tapped a teaspoon on the outside.
