It is normal to have extra discharge at times in pregnancy, the mucus membranes are kind of on overdrive. The mucus plug itself is quite thick, not really like discharge when you ovulate. When I lost my plug it was thick kind of globs with a pinkish tinge to it ( yuck I know!! )
I have been having a lot..I have to wear a panty liner all the time and when I go to the bathroom there are big globs of mucus that comes out..sorry if tmi
How much discharge were are you having? I was having some stomach pain last night... not cramping just kind of a constant pain and it has been coming and going every few hours... I have had extra discharge (kind of like when ovulating) ever since the pain started, I don't have a ton but enough that I have to go to the bathroom about once an hour because I feel slimy... Just wondering if I should call my dr or if mine is just normal... Any advice?
Idk about my plug my first time thru but my son was born at 33 weeks and did stay in nicu for 4 weeks. He had eating apneas but once he figured out how to eat and breathe at the same time they sprung him. He's 10 now and super healthy. I just wanted to let you know if you do go into labor early bit to worry too much.
i wouldnt worry too much i lost it with my first pregnancy at 24 weeks and was told that it can regenerate itself and it did she was 5 days over due.
i LOST my mucus plug wit both of my children around 30 weeks and again at 33 weeks. Its very normal though. you could actually stay pregnant for another month or 2 even if its gone. Wit my son i walked around at 4cm not knowing until my dr appt that day.
I did with my first, he came at 32 weeks, he had a very rough start to life and continues to have neurological and physical issues to this day and he is approaching 8 years old.
But with that said the mucus plug can regenerate itself and it doesn't necessarily mean labor is imminent. Did he check your cervix, is it still closed? I'd be asking what they would do to stop pre term labor should it begin to occur before 36 weeks (eg bed rest, medication etc?) I don't want to make you stress about it but i would get him to clarify what he mean't by "sooner than we thought", many babies born prematurely go on to do just fine but my personal experience of a preemie wasn't so great.
