Baby girl arrived. recommend membrane sweep

On the 15th I had my membranes swept  So on the 16th I began having  lots of horrible contractions not quite regular  until later in the evening I wasn't quite regular I just knew I was in pain and lots of pain.. so I went to the hospital my cervix wasn't changing so they got me to walk I did and then I was a 3cm and then they  kept me over night (I was going to get induced the next day) and they gave me some meds to sleep at like 12 or so and then at 3 am I couldn't  sleep I couldn't do anything but moan and groan so they came and checked me and I was 5cm already so they took me straight to delivery room and by the time I got there I was screaming so they checked me again and I was an 8 cm 10 mins later (no time for epidural) I then told the nurse I needed to pee and they went to take me to the bathroom and as soon as I stood up I said I have to poop and they said nope laid me back down and checked me again I was already a 9 and a half cm dilated  about  5 mins later I started pushing  at 4 am and 14 mins later at 4:14 my baby girl was here.

Tomorrow is my appt and I am actually due today with no signs so I will ask my obgyn for it
Is it really painful or bearable? I know it might depends on your pain tolerance but still in general how does it feel when they do it

I  say give it a go I was crampy the day I got it done but the next day I woke up very much in pain contractions  and by night they were in full force and I went to the hospital and by 4 am she was here. So I do recommend it  but only on or after due date..

It's when your midwife inserts a finger or two into your vagina and makes sweeping movements just inside the cervix to try to separate your amniotic sac from the cervix itself. This is meant to cause the release of prostaglandins and help bring on labour. It is usually done on or after your due date which is when it is more likely to be successful.
My modwife offered to do a sweep on Thursday (my due date) and after reading this post I think I might go for it... unless baby decides to arrive before then :) x
