Im anxious to learn as much as possible about breastfeeding. I want to soley give my daughter breast milk and no formula if possible... My one fear more then anything is producing an adequate amount. Any moms that have done this before (Im obviously a FTM) what are some suggestions you may have for producing a lot of milk or any advice towards successful breastfeeding in general, I'd really appreciate the different inputs!! :) 34+5, making progress!

Breastfeed alot. Then eat right after you fed your baby.  Healthy food.  Not junk food.

Oh forgot this but it helped me get my supply up. I feed on demand and more often then what done nurses and Dr tell you. Some will say every two to three hours but I did more and wouldn't wait that long especially if my baby wanted it. That help bring my milk in quicker especially when you only have colostrum. I could never pump that out. And I could never pump enough milk as pumps don't really have they same sucking as a baby. So I couldn't increase my milk with that my kids always got more out than the pump. But some women have can get a lot out with the pump, I was just not one of them.

First mistakes ftm make is think it is easy.  I would tell you if it is important find a support Person or group that can help you. It a learning process not just for you but even for the babies. Some babies are born and just don't know how to suck properly or they want your breast so bad they don't open up enough and only grab your nipple which will leave you with sore cracked nipples.  Find a lactation nurse that connects with you. I had some bad one and good ones so keep searching if you need to.  Stress and it hard not to stress when it something that means a lot to you and you are having a hard time can decrease your supply. Supplementing and breastfeeding normally won't let you build up your supply it decreases it. the more you nurse the more milk you will make.  You at times will feel empty and think nothing is in there but there is and your body will make more and faster the more demand the faster it will be made. Some times babies fall asleep while nursing. I would have to strip my so they were naked and tickle their feet so they would finish eating before falling asleep.  What you eat can affect your breast milk and give them gas and sore bellys it trial and error , I can't drink cows milk while nurse, one of my didn't like when I ate broccoli etc list goes on. Again work with a lacation nurse.  And it can be very painful at first but about three months it will get better. There are gel pads called soothies that you stick on after nurse to relieve the pain, they saved me with my 4 th child. Never had that pain with my other three. You just have to believe if you are having trouble at first it will get better. I was lucky with my first child I had no issues and he knew what to do and it was easy but my fourth son oh my the pain. And I could see why with out support why some women stop.  I love nursing my kids but you got to learn with them and take it one day at a time. Good luck.

I'll tell Ya, a couple yrs ago Id never get so excited about receiving a breastpump in the mail! Lol But I appreciate the good advice. Also don't let others opinions on covering up or how long you breastfeed  get to you. You'll here it if you go beyond  1 yr.

#1 way of milk production is breastfeed a lot. The more you breastfeed the higher demand your body will make. All women are different  some do make more then others but that's always the key you want to make more milk then breastfeed often and pump when your not.
Lanisol  works great on chapped nipples. It can hurt a bit in the begining. Don't let it discourage you. If you get clogged pores and have to be given antibiotics continue  to breatsfeed. You can breastfeed while on them and it is recommend  to breastfeed even with clogged pores. You can take mothers milk tea. I'm not sure how well it works but iv always had a high amount of milk so I didn't notice a change. Be prepared for leaking and even self shooting nipples. Sometimes milk will leak like a stream on its own.

I heard fenugreek boiled in water and there are teas from organic shops im going to try and if its reallllllyyyy bad the doctor can give you a medicine for diahrea or constipation i forgot which one that increases supply.

You might do really well so dont worry take it as it comes.
