Anyone have any remedies for late night leg cramps!?!? I have a body pillow but that seems to bring no comfort.

In my previous pregnancies I had terrible leg cramps.   My midwife said it was a potassium and magnesium deficiency.   Magnesium is absorbed better through the skin so I take Epsom salt baths every night before bed and I haven't had a problem.  I put 2 cups epsom salts, half cup baking soda and a small amount of coconut oil for moisturizing and climb in for 30 minutes.   I haven't had any cramping this pregnancy.  It's a great way to end long days of running after the other kiddos:) and helps me sleep better too.

Try putting feet up. A slight elevation will help blood flow.

What expectingJrue said.... When you feel one coming on, point you toes as far up as you can! I had the worst leg cramps with my first and had one really bad one this time around and then was given this advice and it works like a charm!

They have a leg cramp ointment made by Hyland's that comes in a red tube. They have it at Walgreens. It's awesome! My dr recommended it and I love it. It doesn't smell bad, it doesn't burn and it has safe ingredients in it.

Drink more water. They can be a sign of dehydration.

I get them too.  I never had them with my first child.  I usually only get them on the days that I work.  I work 12 hour shifts, mostly on my feet.  I eat a banana every day already. I might try compression stockings. My friend said it helped her.

To stop leg cramping at night. Point toes up not downwards when stretching at night.

My last doctor said potassium as well. He recommended buying bananas because they were easy to eat daily and at any time... Mine started within the last two months last pregnancy and thankfully they have not started as of yet this time (26 weeks.) Mine were always in the middle of the night, so stretching them a little before bed seemed to help as well.
