Weight Gain

So last week when I went the dr she told me that I already gained 19 lbs and she told me that she wanted me to gain 18 in the whole preg. How is that going to happen?? Now my appts are scheduled for every 3 wks to monitor my weight. Whatever

How are we supposed to control the weight? For one all the baby likes are salads and I was never a water drinker and that is all he wants  I drink like 4 or more bottles a day which before all I drank was diet coke. Is anyone else being put in the weight seat?

I wouldn't worry about the weight issue, unless it is getting extremely high.  I know people who have gained 45lbs and lost it all within a month after the baby was born.

Personally I have only gained 5 lbs and I am at 31 weeks - so I am at the opposite end of you.... people (not the doctor) are worried that I am not gaining enough.  I keep losing weight off my legs, but and arms but gaining it in my belly and boobs.  Each person responds to each pregnancy differently.

The doctor said that your body may put on weight or take the weight from different areas and give it the baby.  My fundal height is currently 3 weeks ahead of schedule, so they are not worried.  As long as you are healthy and the baby is healthy you will be ok.

...I do think, however, that my days of not putting on a bunch of weight are over....

It is easy for a doctor (especially male, who's never ahd children) to tell us what we need to gain!

I agree that our bodies seem to do what they want.  If you are eating healthy, then I wouldn't worry about it.  Now if the extra pounds came from ice cream, candy bars, and soda, that might be a problem. = )  But otherwise, there's little you can do.

At my 28 week appt I had gained 25 pounds.  More than I had intended, but what can I do??  I am trying to keep to a pound a week for the next ten weeks, but other than eating healthy and walking, which I'm already doing, it is out of my hands.

I'm just afraid that my baby is going to be huge, as I am literally ALL belly.

I have gained way more than that!  My dr. really wanted me to only gain around 30 max the whole pregnancy, but I am already there.  At my last appt he came in and said "You look great!!"  Then he said I was having the perfect pregnancy and my b/p, iron and everything is perfect.  I am not planning on changing a thing. DO NOT try to change what you are doing if you are still gaining a pound a week.  I can't wait to get thin again, but for now, if my baby is doing great, than I am ok with the weight gain.

By the way, I am a total healthy vegeterian and for some reason still gain, so I guess our bodies are getting what they need :)

I am almost 28 weeks and I have gained 19 pounds too! My doctor's office told me that was great.  With my first son I only gained 22 pounds total, there is no way in
H E L L that is going to happen this time. And believe me he was not a little baby, I was about 2 1/2 weeks early and he weighed 8lbs 3.5 oz! So needless to say I am little afraid on how big this little boy will be!!!!!

I have always heard it is normal to gain anywhere between 20-30 pounds, depending on your pre-pregnancy weight. I do not eat all day either, so I am like "where is the weight coming from??" Just like you I am done stressing!!

If I were you I would relax it sounds like you are doing great!
