Cooper is 6 weeks old and his sleeping is getting worse instead of better. He used to sleep in 2-3 hour stretches, maybe 3 1/2 overnight.
Now, he is going 5 hours WITHOUT SLEEPING, then sleeping for 1/2 hour and waking up!! Doesn't a 6 week old need more sleep than this?! This is not a feeding issue he just won't go to sleep!!!!!!
I am so frustrated (and tired) I could cry. I go back to work Monday-- there's no way i'm going to be able to function. He is way too littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys to just put him in the crib and let him "cry it out". I have tried walking with him, rocking, swaddling, singing... Any other suggestions??????
Also I have heard that getting one of those exercise balls could help that babies really like those. Or try going for a walk with him or taking him for a ride to get him to sleep. That always seems to get my littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys guy to sleep.
He always falls asleep in the car. In fact, that may have been my mistake. We are on the go so much, he is used to sleeping in the car and maybe can't sleep at home!?
He is not loving his swing, but he does sometimes sleep in his vibrating bouncer. It just seems like he is sleeping so littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys, night OR day! For ex, right now it is 2:30. He has been awake since before 11:00. He is eating and shows no sobvious signs of sleepiness. Isn't that a long time for a 6 w/o to go without a nap??
Last night (between 8 pmPremenstrual syndrome Relieving pms and 6 am) he slept a total of 3 1/2 hours. ????
I am hoping he will make up for this at some point.... = )
mine is simillar and he is 2weaks can go 5-6 hours without sleap during the day he is sleapy and he fights with himself not to sleap. the only thing that seams To help is walk
ummmm- Colter is usually awake from 4am until 8pm without a nap!! He was classified as an "active baby" and my dr.s laughed and said he is going to be a handful. I did just read though that once a baby gets to 8 weeks they will start needing a nap every two hours...and I can't wait!
It sounds like he is over tired. I dont have any advise im sorry, but you could always just lay him in his crib and let him entertain himself while you sleep. They have tons of mobiles and music thingys to put in the crib nowdays. Just a thought. Good luck, it should get better soon:)
OMG, girl! How do you get anything done?? All of my kids have napped at least one good stretch uring the day. All i get done doing is feeding Cooper, laying him down for 5 minutes, then he wakes up and we start all over!
And DH has the nerveNerve biopsy Nerve conduction velocity yesterday to complain about how dirty the house is and say, "and you;ve been off for six weeks!" GRRR but that's a whole nother story...
maybe you could try putting him down for little bits at a time in a playpen or something until he gets used to the 'routine'... this is what i've done... i know most say its crazy to try to 'sleep train' a newborn but im here to tell you its worked EVERY single time for me! they fuss and cry at first but like any living being, they get used to the 'routine'... its a life saver in the end, plus baby and i are both happy - he gets to stretch out and look at his toys that are hanging on the sides of the playpen, and i get laundry and dishes done... or i just watch a bit of Dr Phil from time to time in between feedings and diaper changes... lol good luck!
