sorry TMI! lost my mucus plug, am i gettiing close?

Hi everyone.  When I went to my midwife on Sat. I was 2 cm dialated and 80% effaced. I just used the rest room and I'm fairly certain I have lost my mucus plug.  There was a few streaks of blood in it.  I hav been crampy on and off for a few days now.  Do all you experienced moms think I am close to active labor?

I called my midwife and let her know.  she said that it could mean labor is coming soon, or it could mean I still have a few weeks.

I think they may want to know about that. At least my OB tells me to call her at any time if something happens.

I didn't let my dr know, should I? I didn't even think of calling them....

OMG you must be so excited (maybe scared or nervous?) But you are almost there!!!

I was 3cm 90%effaced It took me a few days after losing my mucous plug before I went into labor.

When I lost mine with my son, I had him 2 weeks later...Ans with this one, I lost my mucous plug about a month ago, and my doctor confirmed it, well I guess it regenerated, because I lost it again last week...So, I guess what I am trying to say, is it really just depends..It could be today, tomorrow, heck even next week...Some women never even lose theirs..I would try walking and having sex, to try to bring on the contractions. You're getting there.  It could be hours or days or even weeks.  The cramping you described is, undoubtedly, contractions.  I was 4 cm dilated with my last baby for 3 weeks!  I even had 12 hour shifts of constant and fairly regular contractions for a couple of weeks before she was born.  I'm guessing this is your first child, so it's much more likely that you'll be visiting the hospital within a few days.  Good luck!
