Baby Measurements????

Well i had my scan wednesday (at 19 weeks 2 days - EDD 25th August) and was having a look thru my notes yesterday and my baby girl is measuring 175.2mm (17.5cm)

After looking over my baby books i figured the average size of a 20 week baby is 15cm.

My friend Stacy is having a boy and is due the day after me (26th August) and had her scan the day before me, but her little boy is measuring 159.0mm (15.9cm)

My doc measured me at 2-3 weeks further along when i saw him a couple of weeks back but the sonographer said that new measurements wouldnt change my EDD.

Im just wondering if 17.52cm is on the large size for 19 and a half weeks???

And does this mean she might be due a little earlier as suspected??????

Sorry - I know this is a late reply, but I usually go straight to the preg 35+ forum because there were no posts here for a while! I just had my 19 week scan a few days ago, and my u/s tech told me that at that stage they no longer do measurements from crown to rump or head to toe (which you would expect at 19 weeks), because they cant actually measure the baby stretched out staight. What she told me and what she did was take measements of the head circumfrence, the chest circumfrence and the bottom circumfrence and they must work out the average from there. Although after taking this measurement she asked me how far along I thought I was and I told her 19w3d and she said she had me measuring at 19w6d, but because it was within a week she said it was all good and wouldnt change my EDD.

But I wondered the same thing as you - even though I only measured a few days further, does this mean I should expect him to arrive a few days earlier? Would be good to find out.

Babies grow at diffrent rates she may slow down some or not. U/S can only give an approximet guess and are never 100% correct. Boy my boys were 19 and 1/2 inches whitch is a little short but weighed in at 7.2 lbs and 7.9lbs so...... My midwife with my last gave me a better guess as to the babys size. I still had 2 weeks to go and went to my reg appointment and I asked her how big she thought the baby was.....she felt my tummy and said about 7 and ahalf lbs!!! I was freacking cause I still had 2 weeks to go!! I had him later that day( 2weeks early!) And he was indeed 7 and ahalf lbs!! I wouldnt worry to much, maybe she will just be a little longer.
At my u/s last monday my little boy was measuring a little bigger too but said they would not change my due date. They already did that once and changed it from Sept 2 to August 27. I really dont think I will even make it that far though...my kids tend to come early:)
Good luck to you and congrats on your healthy little girl!!

That is 6.89 inches based upon the online calculations.  My son was 10 inches at a little over 20 weeks.  They moved my due date up two days based upon that scan and I had him 6 days late.  He measured 20 1/2 inches.  He was also 8 oz at that appointment.  He was 6 lbs 15 oz too.    At the end of that pregnancy I realized that the doctors really don't know as so many things can happen and most often it is just a best guess.  After having one baby they are more likely to do what you want them to do when you want them to do it.  I feel like what I say now actually means something.  Good luck.
