We have been having the same issues when Joel turned 1 and we took away the bottles. The first few nights he would start screaming when we started the bedtime stories but the last nigths it has been screaming during his bath which he usually loves. I think that it has to do with taking the bottles away and they don't want to go to bed. I think that if we just continue with the bedtime routine that pretty soon the crying will stop bc they will learn that they have no choice but to go to bed.
Oh fun! Cruz turns one next Wednesday! You gals have now scared me! We plan on stopping the bottles on Sunday, because he returns to daycare on Monday because I go back to teaching. I wish I had some advice! Hopefully it is a short lived phase!
I will let you know if I am in the same boat next week! EEEK!
Thanks for the comments, girls! It seems like the bottles MUST have something to do w/ it, but really, it seemed quite easy taking them away. He was down to 3 a day, and within 3-4 days we cut down to NONE.
The crying has gotten a little better when I put him to bed. (pshew!) But if/when he wakes at night, I have to lay down w/ him, sometimes for HOURS, before he'll go back to sleep, where I used to just do a quick diaper change-hug-kiss-back-to-bed.
@Rachel, I go back to work tomorrow (I teach, too). I'm not ready, but I think the daycare routine and structure will be good for the baby.
sorry you are having problems:~( I have them too but I refuse to take the bottles away just yet. Taylor has been waking up 2x's a night just flipping out untill I give her a bottle. The doctors told me to do water if I am going to continue the bottles at night, but IDK. I am frustrated:~(
