Can anyone help calm me down, are these normal symptoms?

Can anyone help me to calm down, I'm almost 6 weeks preganant and yesterday I experienced some sharp twinges in my lower stomach and aching hips, COULD THIS BE MY UTERUS STRETCHING AND MY BODY CHANGING FOR PREGNANCY OR IS IT A BAD SIGN?

I feel like I'm going mad and my first u/s is another 5 days away?! ...

Thank you soooooo much for your responses, you've really helped me to feel better and to calm down.

My boobs were really sore to start with and now I hardly notice them to be sore at all, why were they sore and now I can hardly tell? - is this normal?

I wanted to also chime in and let you know it is totally normal.  As the uterus gets bigger and rests on the pelvic bones later in your pregnancy the pains will get better.  But until then, the sharp twinges will hit you when you least expect it.  Rolling over in bed can cause it, coughing, getting up from a sitting position, sometimes just moving the wrong way.  It is indeed the round ligament and it's job is to hold up your uterus in there.  There is a lot of stress on it as your uterus changes and grows.  I experienced it with my first pregnancy until I was into my second trimester and it got better.  But it does feel scary because it is so sharp and sudden!  (and very low and off to the side)  A completely normal pregnancy sign.  Good luck!

Don't worry - alexia is right. It is round ligament pain. I started experiencing the same a few days ago. The uterus is stretching as your bosy is getting ready for the baby. As long as there is no bleeding, it is perfectly normal. Like you, i was also going out of my mind, but then felt pleased that my body was adjusting to the new and exciting changes. Let me know how ur u'sound goes. Good luck!
