Gall Bladder question

A couple weeks ago I had a terrible pain right below my sternum. It radiated right through to my back and it came and went every few minutes for about 4 hours. My midwife thought it was probably gall stones and reccomended cutting out saturated fats and drinking herbal tea. Tonight, the same pain woke me up but it's not nearly as bad. Everything I can find online says that the gallbladder is on the right side, not in the middle. Does anyone have experience with gall stones? Where was your pain? What helped the pain?

Thanks Canes. I haven't had any nausea, vomiting or fever during the pain. I have had it last for up to 6 hours. I'll definately be aware of those warning signs now.

It may be just billiary colic gallstone that temporarily get into duct and fall down back into gallbladder. But it also may be more complicated, so if ur pain keeps recurring, last more than 2hrs, or associated with nausea, vomiting, and/ or fevers.  You go to er to get an u/s of liver/gallbladder and have ur blood checked for pacreatitis. 2nd trimester is best time for surgery while pregnant ( but I wish u the best not to need any!) hopefully it is just bad cramps/constipation;)

Thanks Danielle. I feel more certain that it is my gall bladder since your pain was in the middle as well. I drink enough water to drown a fish most days. LOL. But I'll keep that in mind.
