Once they're able to roll around more you will want to use a warmer sleeper and not swaddle anymore. You're right, he will let you know when it's time. :)
Yes, we have AC too. But it is always kept at 78 deg F. We never crank it up. At night we will lower the temp to 76. So I think a diaper, light sleeper and a swaddle me blanket or sleep sac will do it.
April, when you say ‘bigger’ what exactly do you mean? 6 months? I guess he’ll let me know when he’s had it with the swaddling just like he’ll let me know when he needs money and a car!!
The nurses at the hospital will show you how to swaddle the baby. Babies like to to swaddled because it reminds them of being all snug in the womb. :)
We have AC so we put the baby in diaper, light sleeper and swaddle in a light weight blanket. Once they get bigger, they won't want to be swaddled so tight, though, so you may need to use warmer sleepers then.
Getting excited to see your little one soon! :)
i am also afraid of sids because when i was a baby i stopped breathing once and also did my mom (we were both sick at the time though). I have an infant movement monitor on my registry so i dont have to worry so much and it received excellent reviews. there is a sensor that goes under the baby (i guess set up under the sheet sets). There is an alarm that sounds if there is no movement (breathing) for 20 seconds. Very few reviews said there are false alarms. I guess this is for the extra worried mommy, but i think it will help me sleep :)
It really depends on the temperature of your house. If you have the AC running and it's colder then you will need to add layers. If it's hot and you don't have an AC running then you will just use the sleep sack with a diaper under. I have bought about 5 sleep sacks and two of them are heavy fleece material for winter and the other ones are lighter cotton. My BF loves it to be freezing in our room at night so I will have to add layers so Kaelynn isn't cold.
Once she is here you will know. Some babies are cold some are hot and sweat more. It's all a learning process.
Sometimes they give us information overload. Our babies will be born in warm weather so probably a diaper, onesie and light sleeper is all they will need. Sleep sacks and swaddlers will be too warm unless you have A/C. But, if you want to swaddle them, I wouldn't put more than a diaper and t-shirt on them. It sounds confusing, but once they are in front of you, you'll figure it out.
