Process of maternity leave

This is my first baby,  I'm due August 11 my birthday! My next doctor appointment isn't till the 28th... What steps should I be taking for the whole maternity leave from my job and how does it work?

Thank you! Everything worked out and I am receiving state disability with a free breast pump included in my insurance!

Let HR know as soon as possible and make sure you have a plan for how you are going to pay for your benefits when you're on your maternity leave...also they should let you know how to file for short term disability (if you have it)...last bit of advice would be to have them check if you're health insurance covers a free breast pump (if you want one)

I spoke to my hr rep today I guess it's based on when your doc thinkis you should be off, and the timing depends on if u had a natural labor or csection, ones your maternity leave is over you have I think 6 weeks of baby bonding time. And maternity leave is 3 months for natural labor. But your company might work differently so maybe speak to hr.
