Swollen feet/ankles

Last few days have been quite hot here and Friday i had to stand up a lot: in the evening my ankles and feet were really swollen. The swelling went away during the night, yesterday no problems. Today i had to sit proper on a hard chair/stand walk, and now again my feet and ankles are like balloons, my toes are a bit numb too...

Does anyone have tips to keep your feet from swelling (or make it less badly atleast) when i can't put my feet up?
And tips on how to make the swelling go away? I've been feet up for a while now and especially my right foot still looks horrible :(

My doc said contrary to belief, when you swell, you need to intake more water. This fluid retention will be ultimately flushed out by the increase in water intake. Best wishes! :-)
