Bed rest?

Okay, so I'm 11 wks, and i had a doc visit last week, ( im kinda late on the appts) and AGAIN she told me me HCG levels are still low, my daughter's heartbeat isnt that strong ( what?) and if i make it to my 4th month i will be put on bed rest throughout my pregnancy........? why? i mean i kno im high risk,,,, ( and i had a surgery last year in feb 07 it was a spinal fusion l4 to l5) and ive been pregnant 3 times b4 and theyve ALL( except the first, I lost it in the 1st month) ended during or at the end of the 3rd month. IM SCARED AND CONFUSED. i dont want u to think those pregnancies have all been too close. one was  a few summers ago, the other one at the begging of last year and the last one happened in october. plzzzz any  advice would be greatly appreciated. also, ive been having these lil cramp pains. sometimes they can get pretty severe.

Ok if your HCG is low...your progestrone is probably low too.  Do you know where those levels are?  They maintain your pregnancy and can be supplemented.  Also is your blood too thick? Some women have to take blood thinners or baby aspirin.  Those 2 points are MAJOR factors early on.  And with your surgery last year are you taking any medications NOW or recently stopped? Asking yourself and OB these questions with give you some direction with your situation.  Low fetal heart rate is major scary....for anyone.

And the time between your m/c does not contribute if your pregnancy is viable or not.  I had a miscarriage in Jan 08 and was preg end of Feb 08. (We were NOT trying) Im 15wks tommorrow. My first due date was Dec and now Im Nov. This is my 3rd preg with no live births.

The cramp pains....could be uterus expansion or dehydration...check your fluid intake.
I hope I helped....drop me a line and keep me updated on your situation. All the best!!!

when do you go back to the doctor again? Your HCG numbers dont usually come back the same day - or if they do they take hours to come back... so did they call you? And if your HCG were low and the HR was low why did they not send you to a specialist? Are you from the US?

WHen do they plan on seeing you again?

Is it possible you are not as far along as you thought and thats why your numbers are low and the heart rate is low (initially it is lower than later on).

Also, working on an obstetrics floor for quite awhile (antenatal mostly) they hardly EVER put women on bed rest before 20 weeks because it just doesn't do much good.

Do you have faith in your doctor? If so, be more assertive. If there is a problem their office should WANT to see you at least each week and should WANT you to go to a specialist. If you dont have faith in your doctor, go to another one ASAP. If all this is right it isnt something to just ignore and hope it gets better.

i mean i kinda have faith in my doc but i dont want to appear too worried or ask 2 many quesitons. and no im not taking meds no more for my back. and i dont go to the doc every week unless they want another u/s. and she told me herself i was measuring at 11 wks. and she def keeps talking about bed rest. she says it isnt good for me to be dooing 2 much since im so high risk.... and im kinda i dunno, i think shes oveexaggerating. i dunno ima go to another gyn.ob and see what happens tho

I don't know much about the low levels except they do start to go down once you reach the end of the first trimester.

I wanted to say I also had spinal fusin l4-l5 and had a healthy beautiful girl.  The only issue was I was induced at 37 weeks because I was measuring 42 weeks.  I ended up with a 8lb 11oz baby.  I have also had 3 miscarriage since having my dtr and am now almost 12 wks pg with pregnancy # 5 I have been on progesterone since I o'd.
Good Luck.
