Days VS. Nights

Anyone's baby confused with days and nights?  Myra is having a hard time staying awake during the day, then she wants "Girl talk" at night....I'm doing good with it, but didn't know if anyone had tricks?  I've undressed her, changed her diaper, bathed her, talked to her, EVERYTHING to try to get her up to eat atleast, but she won't.  I breastfeed and she only eats 20 mintes on one breast and passes out for 4-5 hours, wants more then by 8pm-12am she's WIDE awake and then again from 2am-5am...it's KILLING ME!  LOL

She doesn't scream or cry...it's more like a whine or a whimper.  Then when she's hungry she hisses.  :)  It's cute.

Didn't know how long this was going to last for.

Thanks girls-
Brandi

Mckenna  started having the same  problems when we first got home. but i  try to  keep her as awake as i can during the  day  after she  eats i  usually get  her to stay awake for about andhour hour and half after she eats and my  son helps me  keep her  up during the day  by talking to her and   trying to  play with her  gently  whichis  cute thing to  watch. at  night we just  try to keep things as quiet and calm as we can when we  feed her ( she is  bottle  fed  couldnt breastfeed her she was having issues  with latching on and such  so  the doc  suggested we try pumping it and feeding her with the  bottle  but then i was making enough  so  we switched to  formula) . WE  keep thing reall low key at night with her but  if i feed her at 1030 then she is up for about  2 hours sometimes  three but then she wont wake up for another  four hours.   hopefully things will get better and she will get her days and nights on the right track
good luck

Mikayla is usually awake during the day after I feed her, for anywhere from 1-3 hours.  If she sleeps more through the day then she is usually up at night so we try and keep her stimulated during the day.  But one thing she does is after her last feeding (breastfed) of the night she sometimes will stay up for 2 hours, so if I feed her at 10 or 11 she sometimes doesn't go to sleep until 1am.  Other than that, during the night/sleep time feedings she is sometimes awake for another half hour before falling asleep.  I think the best thing is to try and keep her awake after your daytime feedings - though I know that's hard because I know Mikayla sleeps through anythning!

I don't engage baby aat all at night.  I also keep the lights low (have a night lite that is enough for me to see by).  I also only change her nappy once (if at all, between 12 and 6) and I don't talk to her at all at night.  It's sleep time.  (Got this idea from a book my sister gave me and it's s great idea).

I sleep with her so this approach works best for me.  I have to work so no way am I walking the floors with baby.  I'd be dead!

So we do everything in silence and with minimal fuss.  If she's hungry I just offer her my breast (I'm able to feed in side lying) and get it done with and then back to sleep.  Nothing to stimulate her at night, only just meeting her needs in silence.

She still wakes up a few times (1 - 3 times between 12 and 6 am) but seems to get the idea about quiet and dark, and we both go off to sleep quickly after each feeding.  Mind you she's now 4 weeks old so we've been working on this for a month..

Be patient, it's early days yet. Just be consistent with what you're doing and Myra will work things out.
