HCG Levels and Heart Beat

My last mentrual was 5/3/08.  I tested for pregnancy as follows:

5/29 - very faint positive You could hardly see it.  It was done with an EPT 5 day before your due test.

6/2 - 103 (beta hcg at my doctors) Level was 103.  At this time I started prometrium (3 times a day)

6/4 - 432.

6/6 - 928.

6/11 - 3964

6/16 - 6388

6/18 - 8227

I am testing again on 6/25 in order to determine why my levels did rise very fast in the beginning and then slowed down, but continue to rise slowly.

Also, I had ultrasounds on the following days with these results:

6/4 - nothing seen

6/9 - gestational sac and yok sac seen.  I was told I was about 4 to 4 and 1/2 weeks even though I thought I was alreadyu 5 and a half weeks.

6/11 - ultrasound showed the same.

6/18 - gestational sac and yolk sac, but no heart beat.

The doctor believes that due to the slow rising levels of HCG and and no heart beat that it is not developing properly.  He did ask if I was a week behind as at this time I as supposedly 6 and a half weeks according to LMP.  He als stated that even at 5 and a half weeks a heart beat should be present.

They increased the prometrium to 4 times a day in hopes of the levels rising  and a heart beat..

I have already had 2 miscarriages and am hoping for this one to be successful.

What is your opinion and is there any possible way that I am a week behind (only 5 weeks 4 days and that my body is just not producing enough HCG.

Also, has anyone had a very bad odor that comes right through your clothes?  It happens every now and then.

Also, will the prometrium help.  Please respond.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND POINT OF VIEW.

I used to take Folic Acid instead of Prenatal Vitamins. As Prenatal's were causing me to have heart burns.
I don't have much of the symptoms, except for being tired.

I pretty much have all the symptoms in the book.  Also, I just love this feeling I get in the middle of the night and morning when I wake up. My stomach does these flip floppy things.  Its insane!   The doctor saId it is normal.  Maybe this is why some women get sick in the morning, but I handle it pretty well.  Plus, I had some whitish discharge today so with these new symptoms I am soooo hoping Wednesday will be fine.  I spoke to the high risk doctor today (I am currently seeing a fertility specialist) and he said not to worry that last week may have been too early.

Why did the doctor put you on Folic Acid?  Do you have a deficiency disorder?  (blood disorder).

I am going to the doctor on Friday, and hopefully there will be a heartbeat. But my doctor didn't seem to be concerned or anything. But yeah, 24000 hcg is high. I am on Prometrium 200 twice a day and also taking Folgard (high dosage of Folic acid).
Do you have any symptoms? I don't have any, except for some cramps.

Thanks for all of your comments.  I am really feeling positive about this pregnancy and we are hoping to see the heartbeat Wednesday.  I will definately keep you updated.  I am high risk with Factor V and we are waiting to see the heartbeat before I start Lovenox shots.  (fingers are crossed!)

By the way, we went to a party last night and someone asked me how far along I was (we are not telling anyone yet).  I laughed and said "I am not pregnant and that it was from a previous pregnancy...its just hard to lose the stomach weight!"  Hopefully in a few weeks, we can be more confident to say that we are pregnant.

Aniram...when are you going for another ultrasound?  Have you taken any additional beta and progesterone tests?  What were the results?  They are waiting a week to test mine from the 8227 result.  Therefore, I have no clue whether my numbers have increased or what since Wednesday of last week.  IT stinks not knowing.

Due to my slow rising HCG, they increased my prometrium to 200mg 4x a day.  My progesterone level (even on 2x a day) was up and down..never a steady rise.  I just wonder if I miscarried before because of a lack of these hormones.  I am fearing that if we go Wednesday and there is still no heartbeat (I should be at least 6 and 1/2 weeks, my doctor is going to give up and schedule me to have a D&C.  I am hoping to wait until the HCG and progesterone tests come back Thursday to decide what to do.

I am also 6 weeks pregnant. My LMP was on 5/7. On 6/18 I tested negative on HPT. I went to the doctor on 6/19 test came back positive, with 24,000 hcg. But still no heartbeat.
I am also pretty concerned. I was put on Progesterone twice a day.

It may be too early to tell...you could have also ovulater later than you thought.  I would wait before you jump to any conclusions because I have heard that 5 1/2 weeks is sometimes too early to see everything (including heartbeat).  I think my 7 weeks you should definitly be able to tell everything.  Good Luck

wow with those levels i was thinking twins maybe but i guess not...

I have heard of people not hearing heart beats until 7 weeks because of things like tilted uterus, or simply its not strong enough to be heard yet. What doctors say are really matter of opinion, im sure some would tell you everything should be fine and maybe youre too early still. Unfortunately, and what i know we all hate hearing, is all you can really do is wait. I think that if your body was having trouble sustaining this pregnancy the prometrium  would help, but sometimes things like that wont help if your body senses something wrong with the embryo and stops on its own. With every question there are so many different answers, its so hard for everything to be so indefinite. I am currently 5 and a half weeks pregnant and I am personally choosing to wait until I'm 8-9 weeks to go to the doctors for this specific reason. At that point you could see things more clearly and have much more reliable answers.

I wish you well and i will pray for you, and keep us updated, just dont feel too down stress as we all know is bad for the baby. =)
