I have to disagree with KM604 on the BH thing. This is baby #4 for me, and my BH were always where one side of my belly would tighten and not the other. My real contractions were my WHOLE belly tightening. BH are different for everyone and feel different. The main thing to remember as we get closer and start asking ourselves if it is real or not, if it is BH it will go away when you move around, take a shower or drink alot of water. If moving around taking a warm bath or shower does not relieve it, pay close attention and start timing them. BH can also feel like AF is coming. It is just they way our body's prepare to go through the real thing. Like our baodies are having a fire drill or something.

Sometimes it willbe the baby bunching up. Also my Dr said if your bladder is full, you will feel a BH. So another thing is to empty your bladder often. If you are not drinking enough water and start to become dehydrated, you will trigger falselabor or BH. Thats why they say to drink alot of water. Getting dehydrated is also a main cause of cramping so if you get crampy, drink a few glasses of water. You might be up a lot to pee, but you will be more comfortable in the long run...

I can't believe we are so close and having these discussions!!! I can't wait till we are sharing the delivery stories cause that will mean we are holding our babies!!!

I am with Gina on this one... I just notice tightness right across the top of my belly, like in my button area, and down in my pelvis when I get BH's.  I'm sure it gets tighter elsewhere too, but those specific areas tightening is how I notice I'm having BH contractions.  I've started to feel crampy also, mostly at night when I lay down.  :P

All the time, usually down in my pubic bone area at night.  I can't cetch my breath and seem to roll over from the pain.  I've told my doctor about it and he said it's contractions and it's normal this time in the pregnancy.  But I don't remember it with my other two pregnancy...*****!!

Hey ladies...if you are crampy..get it checked out! they normally dont do internals to check for dilation until 36 weeks, but I am glad I had one yesterday to find out I was possibly in preterm labor and have now been pulled from work.
Read my other post for the details..but get checked out if you are cramping more than not.

Well I get like a lump on the top right side of my stomach (or sometimes all down the right side) and nothing on my left - which I thought was also a BH.  But when it was happening at the doctors office he said it was the baby, not a BH and that BH will be my entire stomach (which I get too and they aren't painful).  My baby sits on my right side (the u/s confirmed it but I knew it because I used to only get kicks on that side).  Now the baby is running out of room so I feel her all over, but the BH will be your whole stomach tightening up and usually they aren't painful.

Thanks KM! But I still get so confused..because I feel like for the past couple months I have been getting this tightening feeling in my stomach...not painful, just uncomfortable. And than I will press on my tummy and its super hard in a certain spot and just normal hard on the rest of my tummy. So this whole time I just thought it was the way he was positioned...like butt up or head sticking out. Because I feel like a BH contraction, my stomach would contract...but this is more like a hardening..like a tight ball in my belly and I'm not sure its all throughout...from what I recall its usually on one side or the top of my belly. So I feel like I will never know the difference..whether I'm feeling a BH or him positioned weird? It annoys me too! But thanks for explaining it to me..I'm going to pay better attention tonight when I feel it happening :)

Yea....I notice that when my stomach gets all tight, if I push at all on my upper stomach, it makes the cramping even worse!
I called the doc about the cramping at like 12:30 EST, and its not 4pm and they never called me back. Got to love the doctors.....or the nurses atleast that return the calls!

The BH will be over your entire stomach area.  They will make your whole stomach feel hard like a basketball.  The tightening will last about 30-45 seconds.  For me, they happen daily and sometime hurt, sometimes not.  But it always makes me feel like I have to pee when I get them, LOL.  Anyways, just wanted to let you know how they feel so you know for sure when you get them.  Sometimes just part of my stomach tightens up, which the doctor told me isn't a BH - because it was happening when I was there and he saw it happening, he thought it was the babies head and it turned out to be her butt, LOL.

I am...I am also experiencing a lot of diarrhea, so I'm not sure if it is just gas or what.  I'm going to the doctor for my 33 week check-up tomorrow so I will be sure to mention it to him.  The pain is lower but it is uncomfortable.  I almost went home sick but decided not to. It may just be the baby sittting weird because the pain is in my lower left side and I think she is just running out of room.   I plan on just laying down when I get home though.
