whats normal

hello, i am 6-7 weeks pregnant or about there, i had a scan last week and they found out i wasnt as far on as they thought so said they think i am about 6 weeks, they only saw the sack on the scan, although there was the tiniest dot in it. so they said they will do another scan next week (tomorrow). the thing is i started bleeding yesterday and am still bleeding, it is around the time i would of had a period, i have no pain with it, just a very very mild  heavy period type pain in the bottom of the belly and top of legs. it is brown in colour but its just like it would be near the end of a period. the hospital told me to just monitor the bleeding and pain, and come in as normal for the scan. im worried sick they ddnt even let me come in for blood test or something at least to check my levels. they were over 5000 last week at the scan. any one been through the same or similar thing, i dont know if im losing the baby or not. thankyou.

When I m/c'd I had spotting for about 5 days, then the severe cramping and heavy bleeding.  I too have heard that brown or even black blood is old blood, especially if it is coming around when your period would usually be.  But I wouldn't hesitate to go to the ER or call your doctor - because it is your body and you should be in charge.  I know my doctor's office gets sick of my bugging them, but I don't hesitate to express what I think should be done.  Hopefully everything is ok, but I know 6 weeks can sometimes be too early to see everything.

Brown blood normally means its old. It could be implamantation bleeding. however, if the bleeding gets heavier and/or changes color, you need to go see the doctor.
I originally had mild spotting of brown back in January and within 48 hours I was bleeding like a menstrual period, and I ended up miscarrying. I had a had a scan in the middle of it all and all they saw was the sac.

Keep your head up and I hope that everything is okay!
