Traveling??

Hi, I am posting this here since all of you are SOOOO close to delivering...CONGRATS.  So, I am due Aug 3 by date of LMP, but am measuring 5 days earlier.  I am going to be doing alot of traveling (driving) this whole pregnancy for work...but the biggest issue right now is we have to respond to a wedding invite for July 11th (very close cousin to DH) which would be a couple weeks before I am due.  The drive will be 14 hours.  I was wondering how you all would feel about getting in a car for 14 hours feeling the way you do now??  I really have no idea what to expect and anything would help right now!
I am so happy for you all and can't wait to get to where you are!!  :)

Thankyou all for your comments...I guess I need to talk to my dr. about alot of stuff that I just don't know yet about pregnancy.  I made it to 14 weeks last time...but things seem to be going great this time and I am realizing I haven't looked that far ahead!  I guess I am going to have to ask the dr. alot about traveling, we have a different roping each month and they range from Texas to California.  My absolute main concern is my baby and doing whatever is best for him/or?  Thanks again and the best of luck to all of you!

I'm due in a couple of weeks....I feel great right now, the car ride and the trip itself wouldn't be a problem for me at this point....
I would worry a little about going into labor during your trip, though...I would talk to the doctor, and wait as long as you can to respond either way, since Gina is right, the way you feel changes pretty frequently, and no two pregnancies are alike. It's not like two people are going to affect the cousin's plans majorly, anyway.

I wouldn't go that close to your due date.  (I did travel across country when I was 20 weeks pregnant.)  I don't think you should be away from your OB, not to mention all of the breaks you would have to take to just get out and walk not to mention to use the restrooms.  Im uncomfortable now and I don't see how sitting in a car would be that great at this stage.

We opted out of going to a wedding in Florida over NYE since I was 8 months pregnant at the time.

Just my two cents...also best bet is to ask your OB and see what she/he has to say.

Personally I HATE driving the way I feel right now.  I literally can't have my legs closed like you normally would when you're driving.  I have my legs opened and my feet tilted inward to use for the gas...trying to get to the break with all that pressure is hard enough.  It's just the baby's head is engaged right now and you have my use of your hips...so your legs are just stuck in that position naturally.  So driving is HARD!!  If you have someone to drive you around, that would be better :)  I couldn't IMAGINE being in a car for 14 hours and feeling the way I do now...anyways, the doctors tell you not to travel on your last month of pregnancy like that.  Make sure you talk to your doctor before you do go....I know it's still a couple months away :)

Congrats to you and good luck with everything.

During my early stages of Labor, I traveled a lot too. My husband plays semi-professional hockey so we were always driving hours and hours and I was fine. However since this Wedding is 3 weeks before your due date I wouldn't recommend going. Right around 36/37 weeks was my worst week! It was when my son decided to rest right on my sciatic nerve! I could barely walk, sit, stand without being in pain! Nevermind sit in a car for hours. Not that it happens to everyone, but you become so uncomfortable in your last month its very difficult to sit somewhere for long periods of time...and you'll be stopping to pee every hour! Thats a long drive and god forbid you go into labor early...you'll be away from your doctor and your home. I personally think its way too close to your due date and I think your husbands family will understand.
I went to my husbands cousins wedding when I was 6 months pregnant and even then I was like this will be my last wedding before I deliver! It's tough, your body gets weak fast!

Thats my opinion! It's really up to you...and I mean now entering my 38th week of pregnancy I feel fantastic again! But the way you feel changes seriously by the hour, its so unpredictable. Good luck and Congrats on your pregnancy!! :)
