Are any of you going to do the genetic testing?

Hi all and I hope all of my new friends on this forum are doing well.  So just curious if u all are going to opt to do any genetic testing?  I am 34 and am going to request the 13 week Nucheal fold u/s and lab work. I however do not want anything as invasive as an amnio unless absoultly necessary.

By the way I go in for a second u/s tomorrow to check on baby and to see if a cyst I have is growing or has dissolved on its own. I will keep u all posted.

I too will have the 13 week Nucheal fold u/s and lab work. I do not think I will do anything else after that unless it came back REAL bad. I have my first bloodwork done Monday and then the ultrasound on july 29 :)

I am going to schedule mine tomorrow when I go in.  I have 3 weeks to go before I am at the 13 week mark.

Nope, no genetic testing other than what the doctors find in ultrasounds. The only genetic testing options offered to me by my doctor were CVS and amnio, and I don't want to do that. Too invasive.

I'm doing the same as you!  I'm doing the NT test in two weeks with the blood work, but am not going to do the amnio, no matter what the results are....

Good luck tomorrow...I'll be in Chicago so I won't be able to check on you, but I'll be thinking of you. (I wish I could have an u/s...I'm a nervous wreck that something bad is going on, but am hearing the same message from a number of people so I'm going to have some faith!)

Thanks!  I am nervous but I always am before an U/S.  Honestly I do not start to relax until I can feel the baby move regularly.  Oh the joys of being a Mommy.

I'm glad someone brought this up because I've been worrying about it.  I'm doing the NT & bw (will find out when on Tues) and based on the results, my dh and I will make decisions about further testing.  I know everything's fine, but I'm concerned because of my "advanced maternal age".  We may do CVS so we can make decisions earlier rather than later.  It will all depend on what my RE recommends.  I trust her completely (thank goodness).

no...no testing.  I don't care what they say about the accuracy of cvs and amnio testing, I know several women who were told to have abortions because their baby would have severe abnormalities...they refused and had perfectly healthy babies!

I will also do the NT and bloodwork but not the CVS or amnio.  I agree with Jalyn.  My mother had german measles when she was pregnant with me and was told to abort by many doctors.  They said I would have many problems, but my mum refused Thank God!

Can this testing only be done during 13 weeks? I have my next ob appointment until the 5th of August and I'll be 14 weeks by then, but my doctor has not said anything about that and has not requested any other blood work other than the regular blood work done at the beginning! Should I call and talk to the doctor about testing?

So I went in to my doctor today because of tightening in my uterus and they finally told me about the testing. I will be going in tomorrow or by next week!! Thanks for asking your doctor. If I would have not gone in today and you didn't tell me my doctor would have not done the test!!! Again, thanks!!

I have the 1st part  (Nuchal Translucency ultrasound and bloodwork) scheduled for August 4th and then they'll do the 2nd part (just blood work) on September 1st.  I'm so excited for the next marker in my pregnancy!

my doctors have a thing called a prenatal sequental which is blood work and u/s...which is on the 31st..thats my 1st ultrasound too so i cant wait..it would have been sooner but they lost the order for it..
