Ohhh, my aching back (and hips)!

This is more of a woe-is-me vent session than anything, but I'm hurting...!
Sleeping comfortably has become quite an issue for me since about a week and a half ago. I finally got past the point of waking up two or three times a night to pee, and slept wonderfully for about a week or so, and now...
I can't even get a good night's rest because there is no position to sleep that's comfortable. No matter how many pillows I stuff around my back, sides, hips, between my knees, whatever, my joints just ache! All night long. And waking up is like having arthritis (I guess...I've never had arthritis, but if there was a way for me to imagine how it feels, this would be it). I woke up this morning and thought I might break in half, lol.
I found this bit of info on another pregnancy site this morning while looking up the progress of my wee one's development at week 14 this week.

If your back is starting to hurt, you can thank yet another hormone, relaxin, for the aches and pains. Just like it sounds, relaxin relaxes the joints and muscles in your body to help your pelvis expand and loosens the joints in your hips to make room for baby to come out. It'll also help you do a wicked downward facing dog, so join a yoga class and relish your new flexibility. Relaxin production peeks at 14 weeks and remains in your system until after baby is born.

Ugh, I don't know about any of you, but the last thing I'm up for getting involved in is a yoga class just to "relish in my new flexibility."
What flexibility?!?! I can barely drag myself out of bed or off the couch without my poor, aching back and hips feeling like they're all going to simultaneously dislocate with one wrong move!
Any suggestions on how to get a better and more comfortable night's sleep? I don't want to do something like take Tylenol PM each night before going to bed, but I'm beginning to wonder if I might do just that because I'm in pain and getting almost no sleep.

Tylenol PM is just Tylenol with Benadryl (The ingredients are the same) The doctor told me to take it as much as I needed it, but being the freak that I am, I just don't want to have 'stuff' in my system!

As for the pain, mine's in my shoulders right now (both of them...I can barely put a shirt on or reach behind me to take my bra off). The chiropractor told me that it was the effect of the Relaxin.  I had seen an Osteopath before when my shoulder was bothering me and it's a non-invasive, non-medicated approach that I will probably do again...soon! It's just hard getting MORE time off from work (I'm an in-home child-care provider and when I need time off, all my parents need to take it off or find a sub).  With the regular OB appts, I'm already off more than I'd like to be!

I'd seriously give acupuncture, massage and Tai Chi to help you get through the worst of it. (I do a Tai Chi routine that is for beginners for 'morning time' and it's just concentrated breathing, really) I've NEVER had any flexibility and having fibromyalgia, I'm used to the pain, but it doesn't make it easier to deal with!

Good luck!

Yeah, I figured if it's safe to take Tylenol during pregnancy, it's probably safe to take Tylenol PM as well. I just wonder if it's safe to take each night? Guess I could call my doctor tomorrow morning and ask.

I think Tylenol PM is ok and my doctor recommends Benadryl at night to help you sleep as well. It is safe to take in the second trimester.
I hear ya about the restless sleep. I wake up to find myself on my stomach and then I get nervous that I am squishing the bug so I wake up and flop myself in another direction.

Also I had back surgery 1 month prior to getting my BFP. Ruptured my L4-L5 and L5-S1 so it was removed. I am noticing pain there again. I thought for sure it would hurt in the 3rd trimester so I am so upset it is hurting now already.  ugh....
