Unlikely any baby born before 35 weeks would be considered a "take home baby". Like Niki said it does depend on individual development. It is also more common that babies born early via c-sect do have to remain in the hospital longer than those born by vag birth. Vag birth actually helps the fluid to be expelled from babies lungs whereas C-sect baby does not have that and often time excess fluid remains causing more lung problems.

Good Luck!

I'm sorry that you are worried about another pre term delivery. I know how scary that can be. Are they having you do any bedrest or restricted activity or anything to stop the contractions?
Unfortunately I think every baby is different, so I don't think that anyone will have an answer to your question as to when the baby can go home with you. My guess would be at 32 weeks (s)he would have to spend at least a few weeks in NICU... my DD was born at 30 weeks and did exactly 5 weeks in the NICU and had no long term problems. I have a friend that had twins at 33 weeks and her babies only stayed for a week and a half or so in the NICU. Then my sister had my nephew at 34 weeks and he came home with her, but did end up having jaundice and needed to be readmitted for a few days. My DS was born at 36 weeks and came home with me with NO problems. When I was in PTL with him they told me that some 34 weekers and most 35+ will be able to go home with mom. But really it all depends on individual development. Have you had steriod shots to help develop babies lungs in case (s)he is premature? If not you may want to talk to your Dr about that.
Good Luck hun, hoping that baby stays in there until your scheduled c-section. Please keep us updated!
