I take iron supplements so I know this is fine. I ate cereal bars and dried fruit all day Thursday and Friday and was fine, no fainting so it must have been low blood sugar. Also I have noticed I have not gained any weight in the last week so my calorie intake is down. I am doing a diary now to make sure I get 3100 a day (this was the average of all the figures quoted in my twin books)
I fainted a little earlier in my pregnancy around 11 weeks. The doctor said it was probably from dehydration, low blood sugar or standing for too long. It only happened once, but it was definitely scary. Good luck with everything.
Make sure you aren't standing up too fast and that you aren't sleeping on your back at night. Anemia is a good one that is sometimes overloooked so definitely ask your mid-wife if she can check your iron levels.
Kirsty.. did u Dr check the iron levels in ur blood. I have heard that iron deficiency can make u feel dizzy and faint. Make sure ur not anemic and if it helps.. try s u c k ing on to a hard sugar candy when u get these spells. Ur bp and iron levels have to be right..
please take care and keep me posted.
Im sorry to hear that things are not going smoothly for you. Unfortunatly I dont have much advice for you, I havent experienced this. I would definatly try more snacking, and the slow release carbs sound like a good idea. I hope that things resolve for you so that things can be a little more smooth for you.
