I went to L&D last night...

I ended up caving in last night and calling the on-call OB b/c I had constant cramping for over 2 hours. I get there and they hook me up to the monitors and what not and take a urine sample. I was showing some small (irritable) contractions that only peeked in the 20's, but baby's heart rate was going crazy. He was between 170's and 190's so they had me snack on crackers and drink some water and thankfully he then calmed down. They took two slides and checked for any infections, which I don't have so that's good news. I am 1cm dilated the doctor did say though so things are starting, but of course can still be a while. I am only 31 weeks after all.

I'll admit though...as much as I can not wait to meet this little guy, I was scared when I saw I was in fact having contractions and I am starting to dilate. It's too early for him to come and I hope that when he does come, he is healthy as he can be and things go smoothly!

oh my gosh hun im so happy all is well and feel terrible u had to deal wit this.i have been experiencing some rather serious braxton hicks from time to time but my doc says as long as they r no more then 3 or 4 an hour not to worry and they have yet to be.she did say at my last visit shed check me just to make sure i wasnt dilating but i was in such a rush after waiting for so long i said i didnt want her to.i regret it now but if this is anything like my last pregnancy im sure i am nowhere near dilating as well as i shouldnt be at 31 weeks.anyway hearing u say that got me so nervous that this is all coming ot and end much sooner then i think..lol..

What an experience.  Good news that all is ok, though.

I feel your pain. I think I have started to dilate as well, but the doc wants to touch me as little as possible down there until after the next ultrasound (Dec. 3rd, hopefully we have moved enough to try vaginal birth, even if I have to be induced to try it). I have been getting alot of the BH's and some of the time, I can tell they are the real thing (start at the top of the uterus or are accompanied with lower back pain and lasts for more than 2 hours), but then they go away. My whoo-ha has this odd muscular/tendon stretching feeling. It is almost like a burning sensation, but not the burning sensation inside the canal that would make me think it is a yeast or bacteria infection (plus no itching or discharge). It doesn't feel like it is in the canal, but rather around pubic bones. I guess the best way to explain it is that it feels like stretching and burning in my pelvic floor muscles. Almost like I strained something. I was going to post about it in the 18-34 forum to see what others thought.

On a side note, I walked around from about 32 weeks to 36 weeks with my first DD at 3 cm before going into active labor. I also read that looking for the bloody show does not happen all the time in early labor and that it can be much later in the active labor stage 4 cm plus. I have been telling myself, streaky blood, no labor, but that isn't true. I kept thinking, I don't remember the show from my first child, but that was 10 years ago. But once I read that, I thought, hm, maybe it never did happen until after I was already in L&D and in active labor and by then I was too busy trying to find comfort to notice.

Did they say why it happened?

Yikes, how scary!!

Keep us posted!! We are all getting sort of close now.. I am 31.5 weeks, and wish I were closer, but we will ALL get there! =)   This stage its just too early, but too close, you know?!

HUGS!
