Also expecting!!

Hi ladies!
Some of you may already know as a few of us have already been chatting....
My name is Sandi and I am expecting my 2nd baby January 7th 2011.  So far according to LMP Dating, I should be just over 7 weeks pregnant.  BUT, I have a tendency to ovulate late, and during the cycle we conceived in, I had positive OPK's for 6 days!  So, as far as being 7 weeks along, it's likely more accurate that I am nearer to 6 weeks.  Last Wednesday I had my first dating ultrasound (ordered by my fertility doctor) and that technician couldn't see a definable embryo - only something she could assume was an embryo that measured 2mm, and saw the yolk sac.  I went for a second ultrasound the next day ordered by my family doctor, and that technician saw a 3mm embryo (she believes) and a yolk sac.  The problem was according to LMP dating, they should have been able to view the heartbeat, and neither could.  I wasn't too worried because the same thing happened with my first baby, and we re-scanned at 9 weeks, when it was visible.  I have a very unemotional fertility doctor who tells me he's more interested in determining non-viability with a second routine scan this Wednesday.  (How nice.)  My family doctor, who is much more caring and realizes this has already happened with my first, suggested I re-scan in 2 more weeks.
I have had really good hCG numbers, which doubled nicely, and gives me positive reassurance.  I am posting this in hopes of helping other mom's out there who are worried about not seeing foetal heartbeats, to wait it out and retest via ultrasound in a few weeks before making any rash decisions that some doctors propose.  Since I am not having any miscarriage signs like cramping or bleeding, I am staying positive.
I hope everyone here is having a great pregnancy, and if any of you have any questions about concerns with Genetics specifically Down syndrome testing or amniocentesis questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Our first born son was prenatally diagnosed via Amniocentesis with Down syndrome, and is the light of his entire family's lives.
Huggs to all!!

Thank you so very much Gayle!

I appreciate your pat on the back.  I wish that a lot of the time, the information was available for me when I was going through some things that I personally went through.  It is for that reason why I make sure I post about the things that I think will help others!

If ever you need to PM me, please don't hesitate!
Sincerely,
Sandi  :)

Hi Sandi,

Thank you for posting that about U/S results not always being exact.  I'm 37 and FINALLY pregnant with our first child.  Our first U/S isnt until June 14th, and its a little scary. It is so nice to have a reminder that just because the RE says something - it isnt always so!  I have a tendency to panic and research the HECK out of things - which doesnt always help matters.

I dont think that we have chatted on Medhelp before, but i have definitely read many of your posts and find them SO informative.

So, thanks a bunch!

Gayle
