Sorry I have not been on to keep up with everyone, but congratulations to all who delivered, and keep up the hard work for those still waiting. My labor story is not very pleasant, but I want to share for those who may also find themselves in my shoes. I woke up around 2 am Tues 1/12 (exactly 41 weeks) with strong contractions. The day before, I was pooping a lot and continued to do so throughout the morning. Around 7 am, my husband and I went to the hospital for observation, but was sent home after 2 hours because I was only 1 cm dilated, but 90% effaced. I again labored for 4 hours with contractions becoming much more frequent (2-7 mins apart), but nothing consistent. I went back and labored from 3 pm to 3 am Wed morning. The paid was so intense, and with only a few hours of pain killers allowed, I screamed for about 6 hours straight. Before I was "allowed" to get an epidural (my nurse was concerned I'd have no energy to push later), the midwife on call wanted me to get into the bathtub they had at 2 am. I finally received one, and got a little sleep, but not much since my blood pressure was measured every 15 mins. I woke up around 6, and only 3 cm dilated. By now, my stiatic nerves pain was out of control, and nothing could be done. Throughout the day, I was given pitosine, but only dilated to 5 cm. Baby was on my back/butt all day. After my millionth examination, my cervix had ballooned because of irritation, and I got a C-section after 39 hours of labor. Recovery is very slow and painful. I am lucky to have an amazing support team of friends and family behind me. Cullen was born 1/13/16 at 5:15 weighing 6 lb 6 oz and was 20 inches long. Very small for a 41 wk + baby. Sorry this was long, but please know you can all get through the pain and confusion of that day to hold your little one in your arms.
