Further along than i think???

im 30 weeks pregnant, and i just heard that when the doctor measures your belly, the measurements should equal somewhere around how far along you are in your pregnancy. my doctor doesnt usually tell me my measurements so when i was at home i measured myself. i did it in inches, and it was 16, but when i converted it to centermeters it said 40. does that mean i should be 40 weeks? i am really big, alllll belly, but big lol. no one belives that im due july 3rd and everyone thinks i might have gotten my due date a little off. my doctor insists i just look huge because i was tiny before i got pregnant... but now im starting to think by the measurements, maybe i did get my due date wrong? should i be concerned?

I measured 35 weeks at 24 I think it was and measure 42 now at 31, It is not accurate. Also depending on how the baby is laying and the room you have for the baby to strech out says alot. I have never measured bigger but wiht this little guy I have. I know there is not way I could be further as I had us as early as 4 weeks and had a mc the month before. Oh and also the amnio fluid varys and van be more. In my case I am having a big baby and they say it is from gestational diabetes till they figured out that my sugars never have gone up enough to effect size of the baby so they say he will just take after fathers family. All my others were chubby and short and this one is chubby and just plain big:) Go by you original date and us.

Last week when I was 29 weeks the doctor said I was measuring at 32 weeks! I know that my dates weren't off. They are going to do an ultrasound on me next week to see how big the baby is but also to see if my placenta has moved (because it had been to low). I really think I am just going to have a really big baby boy because most of our family members were big! My husband was 8 something, his sister was 9 something, his mom was 8 something, his dad was 10 something, my dad was 10 something, my brother was 8 something, and then me and my mom were the smaller ones both 6 something.

The fundal height measurement (the one you are speaking about) isn't the most accurate and not all doctors even use it anymore.  Not only that, but my OB told me that it should be within 6 inches of where you are at.  So for example, if I'm 29 weeks pregnant, anything that measures 26cm to 32 cm would be acceptable.

Trust the doctor.  They usually do confirmation ultrasounds, meaing that on your first or second ultrasound they measure the sac and or babys measurements.  Those are right on.   External belly measures can vary due to babys size position, etc.

The Ultrasound is more accurate when it comes to that because when i was 32 weeks i was always measuring 3 weeks ahead and my baby still wasnt born until I was almost 42 weeks by inducing me so I wouldnt really rely on that too much
