This is just my opinion----I'm not... I plan on delaying the vaccines and such. Especially Hep B. My thoughts are if WE didn't need it when we were kids (after birth) then neither do our kids. My son is not going to be sharing needles or having sex in the nursery, so I see no reason to overload his system with HepB crap from day one. There is plenty of time for those kinds of shots. I am also not doing Vit K because I read some disturbing things about that too...like how your kid only has a minescule chance of not clotting, but the Vit K has chemicals in it that increase your kids chance of childhood cancer by some obnoxious percentage. When we were kids we didn't get hep b till like grade school and I don't recall getting vit k. The vaccine schedule for kids now has multiplied out of control. And while they say it doesn't cause Autism in some kids, they still don't know what does.
Both of my girls got them...and they were both just fine, but I agree with everyone else...do what you feel comfortable with. There are many shots that I don't agree with, but these are two that I felt were necessary for my bbies...
no my DD got them after birth and so will DS...they're fairly basic and non-controversial as shots go, but do what you feel is right.
Well the Vitamin K helps the babies blood to clot after delivery. They are both just routine shots. I would say don't do anything your not comfortable with. I know there is a lot of information out there and it can be scary and overwhelming. I personally will be getting those two shots but I work in health care and see what happens if you don't get the shots. If you want to wait until your child is older that's fine I have had patients that have done that as well. You need to do what you feel comfortable doing. Congratulations and good luck.
