You need to see a doctor ASAP. The doctor can take a blood sample to determine if you have any antibodies to the chicken pox virus. If you do not have antibodies the doctor may recommend you take the zoster immune globulin (ZIG). It needs to be given within 4 days of direct exposure to chicken pox - but talk with a doctor.

If you develop chicken pox while pregnant it can cause a variety of birth defects depending on what week you have been exposed plus if near delivery the baby can be born with congential varicella.

I only know this as my sister-in-law got her daughter recently vaccinated for varicella and she asked me if I ever had the chicken pox - only because I was pregnant. I had when I was a child but her question concerned me so I did some extensive reading on the subject.

I hope everything works out.

i would call your OB and let them know that your daughter has the chick pox and see what they say. have you ever had the chick pox?  i know i have NEVER had them and when they did the tether i was not immune to them either... so that is scary. i also will have to have a rubella vaccine before leaving the hospital after my csection June 1st.
