first appt help!

I had my first appt. Im alittle disappointed. They told me i would hear the baby, but when i got there they told me that i wasnt far enough for her portable dopple to hear anything, then her portable ultersound wasnt strong enough either. They told me not to worry and i have a real ultersound tomarrow and i get pictures. But i dont want to get my hopes up and be disappointed. Is it a sure thing that i will hear and see something? Im 8w5d

I had mine yesterday at 9+4 and it was a regular ultrasound and yes I saw my little love and heard heartbeat too. I read that you cannot hear anything till 9-10 weeks, I dt knw if it depends on each baby or pregnancy. Good luck to you tho, everything will go well

Meli, not sure if this could be relevant but I've recently read about dopplers, heartbeats and the way your uterus is positioned. Have a read about retroverted uterus and how it may be difficult to hear a heartbeat via doppler in this case. However, if not applicable to you, then the best would be a transvaginal ultrasound in early pregnancy. Keep us posted.

I just left from my first ultrasound (abdominal) I'm also 8w5d. I got to see the baby and it's heart beating on the screen. There was no sound though. I'm so happy I had a little bit of bleeding 2 weeks ago I was scared but they said everything is good with baby :)

I had my first ultrasound (vaginal) also at 8w5d and was so excited because everyone said they got to hear the heartbeat at the first one. So we saw the heartbeat and when I asked if we get to hear it the lady said you don't hear a heartbeat with an ultrasound.. And something like they didn't have the technology there for that. So hopefully your place will. But you'll definitely see something which is amazing in itself :)

I had an over the belly one done when I thought I was 7 weeks and they told me I was 8 weeks I seen the heat beat then she turned on the sound and I just cried listening To the sound of my baby's heat. If you are 8 weeks you should be able to hear and see. Good luck hun

I had an abdominal ultrasound at 8w3d and heard the heartbeat and saw the little beastie. It was awesome. If you're at least 8 weeks you'll be able to hear it (:

If they do a vaginal one its a guarantee...u can't really hear anything til ur at least 10wks and sometimes not til 11.  A regular ultrasound on ur belly may or may not work yet but the vaginal one can see the baby at 6wks...so ask if they can do a vaginal one.
