I jusr had the exact same thing happen to me and the thing that helped me most was tamaflu. But you have to have a script for that. Other medications I was on were musinex D, throat spray, nyquil without the alcohol in it. I would call your doctor though the fly is so bad this year
Call your doctor asap. Anytime you run a fever like that you always call your doctor. Have a safe and blessed pregnancy <3
Definitely go see your doctor. I waited too long to take care of my cough and got bronchitis and fractured a rib from coughing. This flu season is brutal. I was told if a cough over a week needs to be seen. Cepacol is listed as safe for a sore throat and robitussin dm for coughs.
Thank you, ladies!
@mw89, how long did it take you get over it?
@Laurah4658, that sounds awful to have a broken rib from the coughs. For me, the cough is causing really sharp belly pains. I was told not to take any medicine unless absolutely need to. I only took 2x Tylenol for the entire week (when the fever was getting really high, I didn't want it to be over 102).
Sigh... I didn't realize it could be flu because when I first ran a fever, it was just a scratchy throat with no other flu symptoms. When the respiratory symptoms came, it was too late to start Tamiflu so I didn't bother to get the Rx, thinking I could tough it out for a week and it would get better anyway...
NyQuil has pseudoephedrine, so do Mucinex and Rubitussin (at least the ones in the grocery stores near my house). I was told that stuff is bad for placenta. I will call my OB today and ask about it.
It went for a week gor me but the tamiflu really made a huge difference. I had completely lost my voice. And it seemed like one day after starting the tamiflu I got drastically better faster. Good luck I hope you get to feeling better
